Good afternoon my darling family and friends. It is Monday, September 25 I 'm alive. I’m Happy. I’m Blessed. God is going to do amazing things this week. "As Maya Angelou said: "This is a wonderful day. I've never seen this one before.' "Waking up to a new Monday is a gift, appreciate it and do remember you are loved" – Dalai Lama. "Every morning when I wake up, I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it. — Kevyn Aucoin .
I ran out of energy by Saturday since last week was a very hectic one for me.
As in the past NOMA's LOVE IN THE GARDEN
PRESENTED BY HANCOCK WHITNEY at Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden was lovely.
LOVE IN THE GARDEN CHAIRS were Carroll Gelderman and Carter Perrilliat. NVC CHAIR was Elizabeth Grimes
Hosted every year in the New Orleans Museum of Art’s renowned Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, LOVE in the Garden celebrates the culture and spirit of New Orleans with a festive evening offering the best of New Orleans cuisine, libations, and entertainment. Funds raised during LOVE in the Garden provide critical support to NOMA’s exhibitions, programs, and educational initiatives all year round.
WOW! I enjoyed so much attending the Second Harvest Food Bank Biz Night! I loved the new facilities of Second Harvest in Elmwood! I am thrilled to announce that Natalie Jayroe,  President & CEO of Second Harvest will be my feature speakers for my upcoming Thanksgiving Round Luncheon\on Saturday, November 18 at noon at Gennifer Flowers's Kelso Kelton, 720 St Louis Street , New Orleans, LA. We will be collecting canned good to donate to the Second Harvest.
After going to the Second Harvest Food Bank, I went to the colorful opening of Mexican artist Mauricio Zuniga at the Mexican Consulate. It is always a pleasure to run into so many longtime friends
Sammy Steele and I enjoyed the Bravo Fall Membership Meeting at the exquisite Elms Mansion. We enjoyed a highly informative meeting of the extraordinary events that are being planned to benefit the Ballet Association.  After adjournment by Laurie Guimont, BRAVO President, the meeting was followed by a delicious luncheon.  BRAVO, the Ballet Resource and Volunteer Organization of the New Orleans Ballet Association, is a group of 150+ volunteers whose time and talents help ensure that NOBA’s nationally award-winning, internationally recognized education programs and Main Stage Series of world-renowned dance companies thrive in this city.
The annual NOCHI's fundraiser Cooking with a Cause was phenomenal and delicious. The Honorary Chairs were my darling friends Alva & Edgar "Dooky" Chase and Cary Grant & Deborah Augustine Grant.  The lovely event featured food, drinks, and music. The cuisine was prepared by NOCHI alumni chefs as well as local stars Eric Cook, Josh Williams, and Meg Bickford. The online auction was spectacular and featured dozens of experiences, including private cooking and mixology classes, dinner parties and overnight stays. Proceeds benefit NOCHI, ensuring that our programs remain affordable and accessible for future and current students.  Together with your support, our students will be able to reach their goal of a formal culinary education. I enjoyed meeting the new director, New Orleans native Gerald Duhon has been named executive director of the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute.
Pink is the new black and as such I dressed all in pink to attend the opening of the 2023 New Orleans Fashion Week. My darling longtime friend Bambi DeVille presented beautiful vintage designs. Congratulations Tracee Dundas for your vision.  NOFW is recognized as the Southern Region premier platform for designers, models, and beauty to showcase their fashion and talent; the weeklong event includes runway shows, top design. New Orleans Fashion Week has caught the attention of national, regional and local media as the foremost platform for gulf coast fashion!

Crucial Tips to Keep Your Home Safe During 2023's Hurricane Season

With the rise in extreme weather, the strength of storms and the damage caused is only predicted to get worse. Therefore, it’s important to know the risks and the steps you can take, including buying flood insurance, to protect the life you’ve built.

Know the Facts.

  1. On average, just one inch of floodwater in an average size home can cause roughly $25,000 in damage.
  2. Where it can rain, it can flood. A property does not need to be near water to flood. In fact, more than 40% of flood insurance claims come from outside of the high-risk flood zone.
  3. Everyone lives in a flood zone. The only question is whether or not you live in a low, moderate, or high-risk area. Coastal areas may be at a higher risk, but flooding can happen anywhere at any time.
  4. Most homeowners and renters insurance policies don’t cover damage from flooding.

What Can You do?

  1. Store documents in a flood-safe place.
  2. Elevate machinery and furniture.
  3. Toss out debris from gutters.
  4. Buy flood insurance.

Flood insurance is proven to help people affected by floods recover faster. But it’s important to act now. Policies typically require 30 days from the date of purchase to take effect. Don’t wait for a hurricane to assess your risk and take action.

Visit floodsmart.gov to learn more and to find an insurance provider.
