A Toast to New Orleans July 30 to August 5: Matilda/ Politics with a Punch/ White Linen Night/ Casa Argentina's Tango Show and more

Darlings,

Hoping this blog will find you enjoying our hot summer in a cool place.

Fortunately, all the parties that I attended were in deliciously cool indoors. I did miss going to the Bastille Day Celebration and other events but, as you know, there only one of me.

OMG! What a fun and delicious way to celebrate National Tequila Day July 24 than with a Four-Course Patrón Dinner at Nolé Restaurant, where New Orleans and Latin American cuisine meet. The limited seating, four-course tequila pairing dinner included an interactive Margarita 101 session with Patrón Tequila representative, Andy Tamburo who worked closely with chef Chris Lusk who has helmed kitchens at The Caribbean Room, Restaurant R'Evolution, Cafe Adelaide, The Steakhouse at Harrah's New Orleans and Copeland’s.
The evening kicked off with a welcome cocktail, Pimosa, champagne topped with a float of pineapple Patrón, and bocadillo, a housemade snack made of corn nuts, plantain chips, and popcorn. Chef Chris Lusk prepared the quintessential cuisine de las Americas that Nolé is known for starting with blue crab street corn paired with Roca Patrón Silver. The second course of BBQ shrimp and grits was served with Roca Patrón Reposado. For the third course, Lusk offered chicken tinga taco and Roca Patrón Anejo. The fourth course was a delicious olive oil chocolate cake served with Patrón XO Café.

The annual delicious Susan G. Komen New Orleans ' Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner was over the top! I joined Co-Chairs Pat Denechaud, Holley Haag, Kristi Post, Dottie Reese, Coordinator Joe Briand and Committee Members Regan Forrester, Marbury Little, Jennifer Neil and Elizabeth Williams for an spectacular, delicious event graciously hosted by the Windsor Court Hotel honoring five outstanding chefs who each prepared a delicious course paired with Wine Importers Extraordinaire.

My darling longtime friends Mark Romig was the Master of Ceremony and Jeff Crouere , the auctioneer.
This year marks the 18th Annual Komen New Orleans Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner.
The 2019 Spectacular Chef line-up included:
Host Chef Kourtney Lopiccolo, The Grill Room, Windsor Court Hotel; Chef Bronwen Wayatt, of Baccanal Wine & The Elysian Bar, Chef Alfredo Nogueria of NOLA’s Cane & Table, Chef Marcus Jacobs, Marjie’s Grill and One of Hispanic Magazine’s Top 8 Latin Chefs in the Country Chef Adolfo Garcia, LaBoca, High Hat & Ancora

OMG! This was spectacular and probably the best ever and, of course, I think the Latin theme had a lot to do with it. The You Night New Orleans Class of 2019 celebrated this year with the Latin theme, "TURN THE BEAT AROUND." I loved the beauty, the confidence demonstrated by the cancer survivors as they strode down the runway as stars - not cancer sufferers. VIVA Amigas!

“You Night Cancer Survivor Runway Show was a Celebration” as 25 cancer survivors celebrated life beyond a cancer diagnosis. This is the 11th class to participate in this unique empowerment training program that addresses the emotional, physical and mental impacts of cancer, while building a sisterhood of support.

The 2019 Class was composed of 25 beautiful "Stars" and here are their names:
Dwanlynette Price, Anna Naquin, Stacey Meany, Nita Meyer, Cheryl Mouton, Alicia Poydras,
Aliceson Moore, Patricia Chotto, Yadira Fandino, Tammy Sperandeo, Valerie Bouldin, Cherie Berrigan, Kay Wittenberg, Takeisha Revelle, Janice Pennewell, Tina Dandry-Mayes, Melissa Simon, Lisa Lafrance, Elizabeth Hampton, Christine Becnel, Vanessa Richard, Sherri Lanzetta Schneller, Laurie Mauberret and  Jane Fandrich.

I also enjoyed very much attending a lovely Power Palates Luncheon sponsored by Fidelity Bank
