A Toast to New Orleans and YOU.

Good afternoon, my darling friends!
A warm Monday, January 25 awaits us. Let's welcome it with a smile on our face and gratefulness for being alive, healthy, and able to pray for the sick and those that died of COVID 19. Monday is a new day, new week, new challenges, new opportunities, and new blessings! Wear your mask and keep a safe social distance. Sending a warm visual hug.
This past Saturday, i had the pleasure of attending a live performance at Jefferson Performing Art Society a Tribute to Paul Robeson.
A joyful standing ovation was the response to the truly powerful and poignant performance of talented Jamaica-born Stogie Kenyatta at Jefferson PerformingArt Society
. Multitalented Stogie wrote  and performed the Tribute to Paul Robeson's “The World is My Home.”

Join Gulf South Writer in the WoodsLadee Hubbardand culinary historianJessica Harrisfor a discussion of Hubbard’s new novel, "The Rib King" onTuesday, January 26, 2021 at 6pm CT.
"Hubbard works to deconstruct painful African American stereotypes and offers a fresh and searing critique on race, class, privilege, ambition, exploitation, and the seeds of rage in America in this intricately woven and masterfully executed historical novel, set in the early twentieth century, that centers around the Black servants of a down-on-its heels upper-class white family.
Elegantly written and exhaustively researched, "The Rib King" is an unsparing examination of America’s fascination with Black iconography and exploitation that redefines African American stereotypes in literature. In this powerful, disturbing, and timely novel, Ladee Hubbard reveals who people actually are, and most importantly, who and what they are not."
