: A Toast to New Orleans, 2021 and YOU: WISHING YOU A HEALTHY, HAPPY, PROSPEROUS AND PEACEFUL 2021-Jeanne d' ARc Tableau -January 6

Hello, my darling friends, Wishing all of you a healthy, peaceful, prosperous & blessed 2021

Let this Monday, January 4 be kind to you, be happy with what you have, and accept the things you cannot change. This morning we are grateful for being alive, healthy, and able to celebrate the winning of our beloved Saints against the Panthers 33vs 7. Let’s pray for those with the virus and those that died. Wear your mask and observe the social distance. I just returned to my beloved New Orleans after spending a very relaxing, short weekend with my darling friends and their beloved canines in historic Natchez. Ms.  Sending a visual hug.

Nothing like good friends to share traditional culinary dishes such as black eyes peas, corned beef, cabbage, roasted pork, eggplants and Cole slaw and of course plenty of champagne!

Am I ready or what for 2021? Once again, I have been honored to be Queen Yolanda de Aragon for the Krewe of Jeanne d'Arc.  Due to COVID 19 there will not be a parade, but a “ Tableaux de Jeanne d’Arc, “a live performance, a  drive -by event that will bring our usual joy on January 6th.
The drive-by event, officially dubbed Tableaux de Jeanne d’Arc, will bring many of those major components from the parade to this socially-distanced celebration of the 15th-century heroine and Catholic martyr.

Traditionally, the Joan of Arc parade welcomes Carnival in the French Quarter, while celebrating the beloved saint’s birthday on Jan. 6.

This year, instead of its usual French Quarter walking procession, canceled due to COVID-19, the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc will produce a drive-by parade at Behrman Memorial Park in Algiers from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 6.

Joan of Arc co-captain Antoinette de Alteriis describes the event as an “open-air theater” where cars will roll by different scenes depicting Joan of Arc’s story modified from the parade. Knights practicing swordplay, a group of bagpipers waiting for the action, an eco-friendly confetto shooting cannon will all be seen along the stretch.

“This is the first time in a long time that we’ve actually been able to bring it more in line with our original vision where we really are presenting a theater performance along a street,” de Alteriis said.

De Alteriis said the modified celebration also gives the krewe an opportunity to take more creative liberties typically restricted by the walking parade. The New Orleans Opera is donating some of their sets to help the krewe put on the show, de Alteriis said.

The krewe fashioned what looks like a burning pyre to reenact Joan of Arc’s burning at the stake surrounded by flaming heretics represented by the Muff-A-Lotta’s dance group. The usual blessing at St. Louis Cathedral will get replaced by a set of a church with an altar and stained-glass windows, and krewe members will replicate the presentation of the sword. Motorists will also drive by Joan and her army at a campsite.

Darlings,  many of you are contacting me about my next Round Table Luncheon. It will not happen until I am and most of you are vaccinated. I am aiming for a Mardi Gras Round Table in February. I will keep you posted but, in the meanwhile,  let's pray that the pandemic will be slowed down for us to have i t the RTL in New Orleans.

As in the past, I went to lovely Natchez, with my darling friend Laurie Scott and in our way we stopped to see our darling longtime friend Denver Mullican, owner of the historic Fernwood House in Fernwood, Mississippi.
We were looking forward to attending his legendary all-silver Christmas party at Fernwood House but unfortunately, it  was cancelled due to the pandemic.  We enjoyed a cup of coffee with Denver Mullican.

I could not leave Natchez without enjoying a delicious dinner at the historic Manmouth Plantation and saying hello to my longtime friend Nancy and Warren Reuther

According to my friend Mayor Don Gibson, Natchez was the only city in Mississippi that Netflix chose to decorate at its expenses. Netflix contacted Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson’s office about decorating Natchez and as a member of the Christmas in Natchez committee, Debbie Hudson, president and CEO of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce,  said she got back in contact with Netflix to plan for the work. I loved them and here is a video:

Enjoy your week!
