A Toast to New Orleans and to all of us that are alive, healthy and praying for the sick and the one that died.

 Good Evening Darlings!

It is Thursday, August 20, I am back in the Big Easy and loving it. I am alive, I am healthy, I am breathing, I am blessed. Life is Good!. Praying for the sick and those who died!.🙏🙏.Wear your mask and Keep Social distance.

We all go through hard times when we feel like it’s the end of the world. But even when everything seems to be going wrong, there’s always something that’s going right. You just need to find it and bring it into your awareness.
Find things in your life to be grateful for and appreciate. Remember, the happiest people aren’t those with the most wealth, friends, or power, but those who practice gratitude and focus on loving their lives.
Start loving your life because there are countless opportunities around you, the world is full of amazing people, and you still have so many new experiences ahead to look forward to.
You just need to find it and bring it into your awareness...

Darlings, I just returned to my beloved New Orleans after spending a very much needed relaxing week visiting neighboring states: Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
This historical pandemic has incarcerated not only the body but also my soul.

I am grateful to my darling friend Laura Scott for inviting me to accompany her in traveling that took us out of New Orleans.
Laurie and me, we're on the road again and this time after spending a beautiful night at the historical Fernwoodd House we were headed to Jackson, Mississippi.
I always have been a City Girl, so it was such an extraordinary experience for me to be outdoor at a clay shooting tournament at the exquisite Providence Hill Farm in Jackson, Ms. It was sponsored by The ABC Insurance and the hills reminded me of the blue Gras stud farms in Lexington, Kentucky. Laurie and I were volunteers controlling the clay shoot.

Last time I was in Jackson, Ms. I came by limousine with legendary Mark Turk, owner of the Bombay Club, and few other friends for a book release.
We were invited by the Governor of Ms. to the Governor’s Mansion and we had a great time.
I enjoyed very much spending time in Fort Morgan and enjoying the hospitality of Sally Meyers in Orange Beach, Alabama. I also enjoyed returning to visit FloraBama, Floridarn to Al, Miss and Fl.

Coolinary restaurant specials return this year

A yearly campaign that aims to boost New Orleans restaurants during their slowest months is returning this year with some changes.
Coolinary runs from Aug. 3 through Sept. 15. As in previous years, it offers special two- and three-course lunch menus for $20 or less and three-course dinner and brunch menus for $39 or less at a variety of restaurants across the city.
This year the campaign has opened participation to include delivery and take-out options, as well as counter service restaurants. Many restaurants have pivoted to these services as the COVID-19 pandemic lengthens.
“Our beloved restaurant community has been severely impacted by the pandemic crisis that began during their busiest season and the Coolinary campaign is a wonderful opportunity for us all to contribute to their success.” said Stephen Perry, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company. “The addition of take-out and delivery to the program will help our residents support these establishments in whatever way they feel most comfortable. We hope this is a time where we can rediscover New Orleans’ authentic spirit and fall in love with our hometown again.”

Great move. 🙏😍

When the 19th Amendment was ratified in August of 1920, there were already layers of restrictions that blocked black citizens from accessing the ballot. While white women gradually increased their participation in politics, for African American women, the passage of the federal amendment was largely moot.
