Happy 4th of July Weekend and a cool July 2020

Happy 4th of July Weekend and a cool July 2020

Good Morning darlings. The 4th of July weekend is here.
Make sure you wear your mask. It saves lives.
Today, June 3, 2020, let's enjoy it to the fullest. Wishing all of you a happy, safe, and healthy 4th of July Weekend 2020.
Every morning, we wake up to see the news and if you are like me, you get stressed- so follow these guidelines
No matter who we are and what we do in life, stress is always going to find us. But it’s how we manage that stress that makes the ultimate difference in our life.
But no matter what stress we might experience, we cannot allow it to make us crumble. Just like mentally strong people, we must be able to thrive regardless of any added tension.
In order to handle stress effectively, we have to accept that stress is part of life, accept that we cannot control everything, and maintain a positive attitude. We have to put our stress in perspective, replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and be proud of our achievements, no matter how small.
“Take the time to do what you love to do this weekend.” – Catherine Pulsifer
Friday is about hanging out with friends, having fun.” – Rebecca Bianca Blackwell
When you start to do the things that you truly love, it wouldn’t matter whether it is Monday or Friday; you would be so excited to wake up each morning to work on your passions.” – Edmond Mbiakading
“My life has been a gift up to this point, and I’ve been blessed beyond my wildest imagination. And wherever this ride takes me is where I’m going.” – Michelangelo

Darlings, when I went to Natchez, Ms. during the Memorial Day weekend, I rediscovered the beautiful historical Natchez.
I knew I was going to be back and this past weekend, masked Laurie Scott, and I returned to Natchez at the invitation of my darling friends Warren and Nancy Reuther, owners of the exquisite, historical Monmouth Plantation and I could not wait. .

Nancy and Warren Reuther are the current owners of Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens and the Grand Hotel. We were invited to join Nancy and Warren at a delicious southern dinner at the 1818 Restaurant and I am still salivating it.
With extensive experience in the hotel and tourism industry, they continue to make sure every modern comfort has been provided in the 30 elegantly appointed spacious rooms and suites, yet carefully integrated as not to spoil the historic architectural virtue.
When i visited the Stanton Hall, the famous Carriage House was not open but at the invitation of my longtime friend Eugenie Vasser, who runs the Pilmigrate Garden Society I joined along with several of our friends for a delicious luncheon.
Having lunch at the Carriage House on the grounds of Stanton Hall was an incredible experience. The best-fried chicken that I have had for a long time. It was great seeing Eugene Vasser who coordinated ♥️♥️this delicious luncheon.
While there, I was introduced to talented Douglas Mauro and Donald McGlynn, who gave us a tour of their exquisite Historic Oak Hill Inn - A Garden Bed and Breakfast,Circa 1835. I was in awe at the incredible collection of antiques at the exquisite B&B and I was delighted when they invited us to join them for a delicious Southern Breakfast.
That night,I enjoyed seeing the beautiful sunset and drinking wine from the beautiful porch of Mary Jane Gaudet overlooking the Mississippi River.
The exquisite house was designed by talented architect Eugene Cizek, one of the first people that I met in New Orleans over 40 years ago♥️🙏😘
While in Natchez, Of course, I needed to check out the nightlife of Natchez and the place was “ Under the Hill”
It is the oldest settlement on the Mississippi!
I love meeting talented guitarist Brent Anderson who was playing “ Do you know what it is to miss New Orleans.” ♥️
Sorry I wasn’t missing it because I was thoroughly enjoying Natchez.
That night, At the suggestion of Warren and Nancy Reuther, proprietors of The beautiful Grand Hotel overlooking the mighty Mississippi at Natchez, Ms.Laurie Scott and I are once again experienced Southern Hospitality and this i love the view from my bed overlooking the Mississippi. Standing atop the bluffs that look out over the beautiful Mississippi River, The Natchez Grand Hotel is located in the heart of historic downtown, directly across from the Natchez Convention Center
I love staying at Laurie's former home. Love sitting in the house and porch being with my canine friends
In our way home, I was so thrilled that my darling friend Laurie Scott, drove me by St Francisville to say hello to my long time friend Beverly Anderson Walker At her beautiful Rosebank Plantation. Last time I saw Beverly was at Polo March at Folsom about 30 years ago. She looks as beautiful as I remembered her
Darlings, during this pandemic, I could not think of a better place to visit than Natchez, MS. It is so peaceful, green, and full of history. You will enjoy the southern hospitality and everything that the city has to offer. Enjoy it.

Darlings, just a reminder that the Round Table Luncheon scheduled on Wed. July 15 (Bastille Day) will go on as scheduled under the most strict coronavirus social distance. Everyone needs to be masked and there will be a prize for the most original one.

I am happy to report that my monthly Round Table Luncheons will resume on Wednesday, July 15!
I am calling it "A Path to Recovery and Normalcy Round Table Luncheon" and it will be at Galatoire’s famous restaurant at 209 Bourbon Street, in the French Quarter. Doors open at 11:30 and the luncheon itself, with guest speakers, will begin at 12:00 noon.

The event is sold-out but those wishing to attend should phone in or send an email to get onto the waiting list, as some cancellations might be expected. Following strict social distance regulations, the luncheon has been limited to only 72 guests in tables of six.
Guests and speakers are required to wear masks and a prize will be awarded for the most creative mask.

July 15 is "Bastille Day" and as such, I have invited talented Givonna Joseph, co-founder, and co-director of Opéra Créole, to sing the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise.”

Invited guest speakers include Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, Chief Medical Editor for WDSU Channel 6 Dr. Corey Hebert, President/CEO Daniel Hammer of The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC ) and President of the New Orleans Entertainment Coalition Sandra Thompson Herman.

In addition to Givonna Joseph, the live entertainment will include the talented and beloved entertainers Becky Allen, Marshall Harris, and pianist Jim Walpole.

Executive Chef Phillip Lopez has prepared a delicious menu:

Salad: Salad Maison
Entrée: Trout Amandine with Steamed Asparagus
Dessert: Caramel Cup Custard

The Round Table Luncheon is celebrating its 15th year. Since it started in August 2005, the monthly event has been attracting a distinguished guest list of influential movers and shakers. Modeled after Dorothy Parker’s famed gatherings at the old Algonquin Hotel in New York, each luncheon focuses on a current topic of interest locally within the arts, cultural activities, and philanthropic initiatives that set our community apart and enhance our quality of life.
