-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This past week,I enjoyed so much all the fabulous events that my beloved city of New Orleans has to offer and my only complaint is that there is only one me to cover all the events that I want to attend.

Well since I do not have a clone, I only attended and enjoyed the following:

Description: album
Album THNOC's " It's a block party!"
Margarita Bergen added 15 new photos to the album: THNOC's " It's a block party!" — with Priscilla O'Reilly Lawrence

The Historic New Orleans Collection sure knows how to throw a block party and even Mother Nature cooperated. It was so much fun!

In celebration of the grand opening of its new $38 million exhibition center at 520 Royal St., as well as International Museum Day 2019, The Historic New Orleans Collection hosted a block party with live music, food and beverage vendors, on Saturday, May 18,  from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The block party also coincided with New Orleans's hosting the American Alliance of Museums annual conference, which was expected to bring 4,000 visitors to the city.

The event featured performances from local favorite The Tin Men, Latin band Javier Olondo & AsheSon, traditional brass band the Storyville Stompers, the children's band Confetti Park Players and trad jazz band the Detroit Brooks Trio. Food and beverages were available for purchase from local bars and restaurants including Café Cour-THNOC's new museum café-Country Flame, Kingfish, Longway Tavern, Manolito, and Meauxbar. The food was delicious as well as the cocktails.

Album Krewe of Stars ' Cruisin' into Summer-

As in the past the exquisite mansion of the co-captain of the Krewe of Stars, Carl Mack, and his partner, Darric Cavalier's awesome home was the setting of the annual "Cruisin' into Summer." We celebrated Carl 's birthday and the delicious food, the decadent cocktails, and the superb entertainment made it to be a very memorable soiree.

Album Patio Planter's Birthday Party (5 photos)

Patio Planters of the Vieux Carre. The theme was a Hawaiian luau and everyone looked so festive.

I stopped briefly in my way to the LPO's concert at the historic courtyard of the Old Ursuline Convent since I did not wanted to miss, the annual birthday party for the venerable Patio Planters of the Vieux Carre. The theme was a Hawaiian luau and everyone looked so festive.

Album Bridge House/Grace House 's 24th Women of Substance Luncheon (19 photos)

This annual luncheon presented by James P. Raymond Jr. Foundation and Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust honored prominent local women who serve as role models. The 2019 Award Recipients were Les Vincent (Richard “Buzzy” Gaiennie Award), Arlene Rome (Volunteer of the Year) and Sadie May (Alumna of the Year). The lovely and delicious was chaired by Walton Goldring.

Margarita Bergen added 27 new photos to the album: 2019 Top Taco Festival —  at Woldenberg Riverfront Park.
Top Tacos Festival a very memorable event.

OMG, I was in heaven at the annual Top Taco Festival. It was definitely the can’t miss festival of the spring.. I loved the venue, the tacos and of course the margaritas. Guests voted for their favorites to crown four categories of awards: Top Creative Taco, Top Traditional Taco, Top Margarita and Top Creative Cocktail.
I enjoyed so much meeting David Stringfellow representing the winner of the best tequila - OCHO. It was very smooth and delicious! With amazing live music, creative tequila lounge areas, and some of the best chefs and mixologists in the city , in addition to glorious spring weather made the Top Tacos Festival a very memorable event. ·
Album LPO's Final Concert of the Season (8 photos)

Darlings, every day I count my blessings and give thanks to the Almighty for being in a city that offers so much to enjoy life.

The final concert of the 2018-19 season was spectacular. Dynamic Maestro Carlos Prieto, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestrs and pianist Joyce Yang brought the audience to its feet.

“Brava!” was the word to describe the most thrilling piano concert that I have seen in years.
I was fortune to see her perform from a balcony seat and her performance of Rachmaninoff’s very challenging “Piano Concerto No. 3” was sublime. This Korean-born, New York-based pianist is “blessed with poetic and sensitive pianism” (Washington Post) and “a wondrous sense of color” (San Francisco Classical Voice). The Grammy-nominated pianist “captivates audiences with her virtuosity, lyricism, and interpretive sensitivity” according to another reviewer and it was a sheer joy to see her perform.

Congratulations are in order to:

NOCCA Recent Graduate Phillip Youmans Wins at 2019 Tribeca Film Festival

NEW ORLEANS’ DEGAS HOUSE -DISTINGUISHED AS A FRENCH LANDMARK-Only the second house in U.S. to receive this designation.
According to Vincent Sciama, Consul General of France in Louisiana, “I am very excited that the Degas House has been awarded this prestigious French designation. It recognizes the unique work accomplished by Degas House founder, David Villarrubia, and the impact the Degas House has made on the New Orleans cultural scene since the house was established in 1996.”

Villarrubia, who was awarded the Chevalier in the French National Ordre of Arts and Letters by the Ministry of Culture in 2009, responded, “This honor is a tribute to all those who work tirelessly to raise awareness of-and keep alive- the French influence on New Orleans, especially the art of Edgar Degas.”

Besides the homes of visual artists such as Edgar Degas, the Maisons des Illustres network includes the homes of writers, musicians and composers, actors, scientists, designers and world leaders.

And last but not least : Yours truly for being selected to be on the 2019 Advisory Board of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and I am honored and elated.
On a sad note: 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I am devastated learning that my longtime darling friend, Donna Klein, passed away. She will be missed by all of us that had the pleasure of knowing her. My deepest condolence to her son and the entire family.

Before I leave you with this week’s blog I want to share a special request I had from my darling friend and editor, Dean Shapiro. Dean asked me to let you all know about a special guest who is going to be on Neil Pellegrin’s weekly R&B show on WWOZ Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Tom Dunne, widely known in the ‘60s and ‘70s as the lead singer for Tommy Dawn & The Sunsets, will be interviewed live along with the group’s former trumpeter, Chris Zilla.

The group was best known for their cover version of Ernie K-Doe’s “Wanted $10,000 Reward,” which received widespread airplay as a 45 RPM record and they were also a popular draw at local dances and talent shows, a number of which they won. Tom and Chris will be recounting stories and experiences from the group’s heyday which may bring back memories from some of you who were living here in New Orleans and might have seen them perform back in the day. Tom is a colorful New Orleans icon and this should be an interesting interview!

Enjoy this Memorial Weekend that includes :
