Darlings,

I hope you all had a nice week and enjoyed Mother's Day. As in the past I love to join my brother, Lorenzo Bergen, and my beloved emotional companion, Lolita Bergen, at the VCPORA's 22nd Annual Mother's Concert & Picnic.

Mother Nature stopped the rain just in time for the VCPORA's 22nd annual Mother's Day Concert & Picnic, generously sponsored by Latter & Blum. My constant emotional companion, Lolita, joined my brother Lorenzo and many concertgoers at Cabrini Park to hear jazz, ragtime, and more from American revivalist ensemble the New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra. I look forward every year to this concert and enjoy very much listening to Bobby Skinner playing the famous Theremin, an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer). It is named after its inventor, Léon Theremin (Лев Термен), who patented the device in 1928.

Lolita and I enjoyed so much the 5th Annual Krewe of Turtles Celebrations. Due to the traffic being blocked off around Conti and Bourbon, we missed the parade but enjoyed the Pardon of the Turtles and the sampling of the champagne bottle.
I think the highlight of our event, was for Lolita to recognize one of the employees at Brennan, Saeid who is the boyfriend of Karen O'Hara who was the former owner of "Peanut." Lolita was overjoyed and the meeting made our day to be a very memorable one!

The Project Lazarus Annual Guardian Angel Award Gala at the Ace Hotel was once again the perfect opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Project Lazarus’ most incredible friends and supporters. The spectacular event featured a cocktail hour, an elegant three-course delicious meal, an award ceremony, and a high-end live auction.
It honored as Guardian Angels:
Laura Fine, Michael Mcintosh, Robert Lucky, Jason Allen, Khanh T. Ho and a Special recognition to Fr. Paul Desrosiers, co-founder.

The 10th Annual Suits and Salad Luncheon as in the past was lovely and I enjoyed seeing so many longtime friends. It feature a tribute to Honorary Chair and Founder of DFSNO Hope Encalade, a keynote speech from Dress for Success Worldwide CEO, Joi Gordon, Volunteer & Client of the Year, fashion show, second line and more!

The lovely Cannery was the venue for the The American Cancer Society to hold its Announcement Party of the 2019 Belles & Beaus.

The 19th Annual Belles and Beaus Ball will be held on September 13, 2019 at Mardi Gras World. The event featured great food, cocktails from Bayou Rum, a silent auction, a wine pull, and Porter Lyons jewelry pull. Proceeds to benefit the Patrick E. Taylor Hope Lodge New Orleans.

BRAVO Maestro, LPO and Alexandra Soumm. I loved it!
Violinist Alexandra Soumm, conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto, and the LPO brought the audience, an unforgettable night of music by Chávez, Bernstein, & Shostakovich at the Orpheum Theater New Orleans!
Carlos Chávez's Symphony No. 2, “Sinfonía India,” opened the concert program with the musical spirit of Mexico. Alexandra Soumm brought her lyric virtuosity to “Serenade after Plato's Symposium” by Leonard Bernstein. Comprised of an opening slow movement followed by two scherzos, Shostakovich's “Symphony No. 6” had a unique form and ended the program with a blaze.

The annual BRAVOs Spring Membership Luncheon at the Grill Room of the elegant Windsor Court Hotel was over the top.
The food and the camaraderie were standing. Awards for the outstanding service and generosity to BRAVO were presented by New Orleans Ballet Association Executive Director, Jenny Hamilton, and President of BRAVO Stephanie Burks to the General Manager of the Windsor Court, Ralph Mahana and BRAVO Board Member, Gregory Curtis, Director of Human Resources, Windsor Court Hotel.

Dottie Belletto Christine Vinson,Judge   Monique Morial Dr. Kim Field-Marvin, Dottie Belletto, Hannah Beachler, Latona Giwa, Dana Keren and, Danielle Del Sol,

I really enjoyed attending and meeting the 2019 Top Female Achievers. Some of them are longtime friends such as Judge Monique Morial and Dottie Belleto but I loved meeting the young and talented Female Achievers.
Congratulations to 2019 Top Female Achievers: Ashley Longshore, Christine Vinson, Danielle Del Sol, Dr. Kim Field-Marvin, Dottie Belletto, Hannah Beachler, Latona Giwa, , Dana Keren, and Judge  Monique Morial that were honored at the Cannery.

In addition to the above fun events, I also loved attending :

My darling friend and cellist for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Daniel Lelchuk, invited me to come to Octavia Books for a book signing and discussion by his brother, S.A. Lelchuk, author of a novel, “Save Me from Dangerous Men.” Of course I couldn’t say no and so I had Michael Langford drive me there and found it to be very interesting and fascinating. The book is about a heroic woman who punishes men who are abusers of women and it is envisioned as just the first in a series about the same fictional character. I enjoyed meeting Daniel’s brother, who was visiting from his home in Berkeley, California, and I also enjoyed chatting with Octavia’s always affable owner, Tom Lowenberg. It was a fun and educational evening.

Me and My Girl

Oi! This grand ol' musical comedy was hailed, "the freshest and funniest musical to hit Broadway in ages". Me & My Girl exploded in London's West End where it entertained audiences for 8 years as well as 3 years on Broadway. This multiple Tony & Olivier award winning show whisks you back to the glittering 1930s, where the aristocratic Hareford family are seeking the legitimate heir to the title of Earl. Bill Snibson, a common-as-muck Lambeth cockney turns out to be the long lost Earl of Hareford, and chaos ensues as Bill does his best to learn the art of being posh. With rousing song & dance production numbers and side splitting physical comedy, audiences will be "doin the Lambeth Walk" long after the curtain comes down.
