With Chef  Jose Garces at the Gold Medal Chefs Gala at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center .

Darlings,

Just think - this hotter-than-usual summer is almost over and, personally, I cannot believe that schools are already open.

The good thing is that the beginning of the cultural season is almost here.

I hope, my darling friends, that you have put in your calendars that my annual Round Table Luncheon Saluting the Cultural Season will be on Wednesday, September 12, at noon at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel (details at the end of the blog).

Please don't forget to put in your calendar :
Wednesday, September 12
Round Table Luncheon Saluting the 2018-19 Cultural Season at noon at the historic Bourbon Orleans Hotel

The Round Table Luncheon will be co hosted by Margarita Bergen and
Dr. Brice Miller, Director of Mayor's Office of Cultural Economy

I enjoyed very much this past week since there were so many fun events that included:

Louisiana Hospitality Foundation's 7th Gold Medal Chefs Gala
The exquisitely decorated and lit-up La Nouvelle Ballroom of the New Orleans Ernest Morial Convention Center was the setting for the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation's 7th annual Gold Medal Chefs Gala .

The Gold Medal Chefs Gala featured a five-course seated dinner with dishes prepared by celebrity chefs, as well as an awards ceremony to honor those in our community who make a significant impact in the lives of others.

The 2018 Hospy Award Honorees were:

Louisiana Hospitality Foundation-Ella Brennan Special Hospitality Industry Award presented to Tia Martin of Commander's Palace
Lyn Morein, Bayona-President's Outstanding Volunteer Award
Tory McPhail, Commander's Palace with Jamie Shannon Outstanding Chef Award
Spiros Dimitriou, New Orleans Marriott Hotel Champion of Hospitality
Todd Graves, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers with Drago Cvitanovich Award for Outstanding Philanthropy by an Entrepreneur
Hyatt Regency New Orleans: Outstanding Philanthropy by a Hotel
Dolph Parro, Republic National Distributing Corp. with Brian Klotz Award for Outstanding Philanthropy by a Supplier
Leah Chase, Dooky Chase's Restaurant presented with Archie Casbarian Humanitarian Award.

2018 Hats, Heels, & Highballs

FUN, FUN, FUN surrounded by lovely ladies with beautiful hats is what I had at the Hats, Heels and Highballs at Harrah's Casino. The event benefited New Orleans Dress for Success Organization. I loved the hats and fascinators and ended buying two beautiful red fascinators that I cannot wait to wear.

My darling friend Camille Whitworth was the MC along with DJ Bam Bam Belonge. The Fashion Producer was my talented darling friend Tracie Dundas of New Orleans Fashion Week. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155440300975870&type=1&l=99e97a251a

I took advantage of “Coolinary Month” to attend a lovely luncheon with my darling friends at Mr. B's.
Nothing better than joining great long time friends Suzanne Carpenter Scott and Dr Byron Scott , Jim Walpole and behind the camera Michael Langford At Mr. B’s with our favorite waiter Steve
As you know , August is Coolinarie month and you can have 2 courses for lunch or 3 courses for dinner for only $20. Personally I need to have my favorite dish here which is BBQ Shrimp which is not included.

I also went to see The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans‎' production of VIEUX CARRÉ by Tennessee Williams at The Marigny Opera House, which was superb.

It has a wonderful and talented cast directed by Beau Bratcher and fortunately, for those who have not seen it yet, the play has been extended until August 25.
On a sad note:
May her Soul Rest in Peace.

We are going to miss Hannah Cunningham, co-founder and generous patron saint of the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. I am glad that she lived to be 103 years old since she was an inspiration to several generations. Thankfully she lived long enough to see her dream of a world class performing arts center in Jefferson Parish come true. May her Soul Rest in Peace.
During this time of the year, I usually take a brief holiday  to Texas to visit my darling friends, but at the last minute, my darling friend Michael Langford had to postpone it  so I had to reschedule my calendar to take advantage of the events that I was going to miss. Now I am looking forward to the following:

I have been invited invited to cover this event:

The 6th Annual Louisiana Beef Picnic
 22

Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is once again transforming itself into an indoor picnic, complete with Louisiana grass-fed beef from Gonsoulin Cattle Ranch, as well as for the first time, Louisiana Wagyu from Raines Farm.

The Gonsoulin Family has been raising cattle outside New Iberia since 1770. Their grass-fed beef is raised sustainably and without antibiotics or growth hormones. Louisiana's Raines Farm has the largest herd of Wagyu cattle in the state. Raines Farm cattle are humanely raised, vegetarian fed, as well as hormone and antibiotic free.

Chefs from Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse, Palace Cafe, Bourbon House and Tableau will expertly prepare various cuts of Louisiana beef to showcase their creativity. In true Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse fashion, they will use local ingredients, adding depth of flavor to each slice. Of course, a Louisiana picnic would not be complete without libations. This year Glenfiddich Whisky is joining in the festivities and will be offering specialty cocktails and tastings. Craft beer from Urban South Brewery and Port Orleans Brewing Company will be served as well as wine from Wines of Substance and non-alcoholic drinks.https://www.dickiebrennanssteakhouse.com/event/la-beef-picnic/

Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse has been perfecting the art of beef. We grill our chops, sear our strips, oven-roast our prime rib and broil our filets and the same level of attention extends to the service.

Vieux Carré by Tennessee Williams presented by The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans

TWTC kicks off its fourth season with an all star cast. Set at 722 Toulouse Street, VIEUX CARRÉ follows a young writer, not unlike Williams himself, who arrives one winter in the Crescent City for the first time and falls in love with the fabled French Quarter. It's a dangerous affair, though, and one that involves ambiguous love triangles, desperate longing, and heartbreak. Will the boy be able to navigate his way out of the fog teeming with Quarter characters, starving society ladies, hustlers and buskers? Or will he find himself crushed in the flood of carnal and spiritual desire?
