A Toast to New Orleans August 14-20: 7th Annual Gold Medal Chefs Gala and Hospitality Awards/ Vieux Carre by Tennessee Williams/ Hats, Heels and High Balls and more.....

Darlings,

Wishing that this blog will find you nice and cool.  Fortunately, I am enjoying a powerful air conditioner in my condo that keeps me nice and cool.
I am so sorry that I missed the funeral of my darling friends  Ken Carter and Maria Daly. May their souls RIP.

This past week was another exciting one, full of fabulous cultural events. I started my social /cultural week on Tuesday by attending

Cocktails in the Courtyard
The lovely and historic courtyard of Degas House was the setting for the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce's networking night "Cocktails in the Courtyard." Mother Nature blessed everyone with glorious weather to enjoy the camaraderie, the delicious hors d'oeuvres, the decadent specialty cocktail and the live music!https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155414701525870.1073743241.581200869&type=1&l=7c109396c3

17th Annual Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner
I am still salivating and enjoying the memories of a delicious evening full of camaraderie at the17th Annual Summer Cure Chefs Wine Dinner benefiting Susan G. Komen New Orleans. I was invited to join Co-Chairs Pat Denechaud, Holley Haag, Kristi Post, Dottie Reese and Jordan Teich; Coordinator Joe Briand; and Committee Members Regan Forrester, Tracie Garner, Jennifer Neil and Elizabeth Williams for a night with outstanding chefs paired with Wine Importers Extraordinaire.

The evening was graciously hosted by the always elegant Windsor Court Hotel. Executive Chef Vlad Ahmadyarov, of the Grill Room, Windsor Court Hotel was the host for the exquisite dinner and provided the delicious Fourth Course. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155420931055870.1073743242.581200869&type=1&l=c67e726d67

The 2018 Dirty Linen Night
The 2018 Dirty Linen Night, judging by the crowd, was a great success. I loved visiting the galleries, admiring the artists' work and meeting them, along with seeing a lot of longtime friends. It brought back a lot of lovely memories when I owned Bergen Gallery and later Casell-Bergen Gallery. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155422367715870.1073743243.581200869&type=1&l=a1300bc403

Krewe of Cork Luncheon at August
As in the past, the annual sold-out Krewe of Cork Luncheon at August during August was delicious as well as a lot of fun. Our perennial King, Patrick van Hoorebeek, was absent because he is enjoying a well-deserved vacation in his beloved Belgium but many of the Queens were present as a well as many longtime Corkians and new ones.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155423003370870.1073743244.581200869&type=1&l=522227622a

2018 Heavenly Host of Stars Gala

The artists were accompanied by the Chris Severin Band. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155425195875870.1073743245.581200869&type=1&l=cb93d3b2c0

4th Annual Oracle Gala 2018
The LGBT+ Archives Project of LA presented the 4th Annual Oracle Gala 2018 Oracle Gala and it was indeed a truly historic and decadent event.

This year’s Oracle Gala honored the founders of Southern Decadence, who have generously donated their memorabilia to the Louisiana Research Collection at Tulane University. A special, one-time-only, exhibit of these and other items chronicling New Orleans LGBT+ history was be featured at the Gala. Several of the founders were in attendance. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155425233995870.1073743246.581200869&type=1&l=f7650d788d
