Toast to New Orleans: November 7-13: Aspen Ballet/ LA SPCA's Howling Success/Orpheus in the Underworld/Victory Ball? Info about Round Table Luncheon & more....

Darlings,

Are you enjoying this glorious autumn weather and the six consecutive victories of our beloved Saints? I am! Geaux saints GO!

Last week was a very difficult one for me because it was like a social Tsunami and unfortunately my heart was laden with grief since two of my darling longtime friends had left this world.
I was notified from Argentina that my darling friend, Ambassador Adolfo Saracho, died. Adolfo was the Consul of Argentina when I arrived from NYC to New Orleans in 1978. Adolfo was so charismatic and introduced me to the Argentinian Community, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps. He was the first Director of the Department for Nuclear Affairs and Disarmament of the Foreign Ministry of Argentina (1983-1987), as well as Argentina’s Ambassador to Turkey and Consul-General in New Orleans, and a member of the Commission for Disarmament in Bern and Geneva.

The last time that I visited Argentina on a cruise aboard Crystal Cruise Line along the way to Cape Horn, I met with Adolfo in Buenos Aires and will always  cherish the memories of all the wonderful time that we spent together!

The other big loss this week was Andres de LaBarre. He was my King when we reigned as the Millennium Monarchs for the Krewe of Shangri-la. He was one of the first people who I met when I came to New Orleans and lived in the French Quarter. There will be a memorial planned for Monday, November 13. http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Andre-Barre&lc=9785&pid=187156993&uuid=64c346b8-2f16-4299-af1c-560dc43d22d6

So with a grieved heart I attended the following soirees:

22nd Annual Stake Out for Justice Luncheon

Darlings, the 22nd Annual Stake Out for Justice Luncheon benefiting the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation at the Sheraton Hotel was, as in the past, spectacular! I love Blue Uniforms and they were there. My darling friend, Melanie Talia, former Queen of the Krewe of Cork is the President and CEO of NOPJF. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154769419010870.1073742980.581200869&type=1&l=bdc98d94f1

2017 Court Watch Award Reception
Court Watch NOLA hosted its 4th annual Criminal Justice Reform Reception at the home of Hope and Jimmy Myer. The lovely event featured the presentation of the Lynne and Jerome Goldman Criminal Justice Reform Awards to the Governor of Louisiana, the Honorable John Bel Edwards and Susan Gundlach, Philanthropist and Community Advocate for Criminal Justice.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154771369635870.1073742981.581200869&type=1&l=927b7d9879

Soiree at the Magnolia Mansion
Last night I was invited by my darling friend, Sammy Steele, to come to the majestic Magnolia Mansion on Prytania Street. He is co-owner and has taken over the management of the mansion and last night there was a lovely soiree in honor of D. Nicole Sheppard who is running for Judge. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154785292785870.1073742982.581200869&type=1&l=c99fbfcc73
Longue Vue's Design Symposium Luncheon
The Longue Vue House and Gardens’ “The Essence of Style” Design Symposium Luncheon & Lecture at The Cannery with Catering by Brennan’s was so interesting and delicious. It presented Richard Keith Langham, acclaimed interior designer and new author, as the keynote speaker. Keith showcased his master designs in a presentation titled, “Other People’s Rooms.” He was joined by a second dynamic speaker. Antique textile designer, Rebecca Vizard who discussed the art of pillow and accessory making from her new book, “Once Upon a Pillow.”https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154787896055870.1073742983.581200869&type=1&l=3e5eadaa8e
