A Toast to New Orleans : Sept 2-8: Round Table Luncheon/ Velada Flamenca/ We live to It and mor

Darlings, I hope you enjoyed the Labor Day Weekend!

I survived it since, in between working at Casell-Bergen Gallery, I was invited to many fun events such as the annual

I loved the new venue at the fabulous National WWII Museum. It was very well attended and I loved seeing so many of my friends.

The next party that evening was Grass Fed Beef "Picnic" from Gonsoulin Cattle Ranch (11 photos)

Darlings, I haven't yet met a cow that I did not like, so when Dickie Brennan throws a picnic at Dickie Brennan Steakhouse and invites his gorgeous-looking cowboy friends, owners of the Gonsoulin Land and Cattle Ranch, I needed to be there and I glad I did not miss it. OMG- how do I love beef? Let me count the ways! I wished I had the time because there was delicious beef everywhere and the Hess Pinot Noir wine was divine.
After those soirees, I also attended briefly at the invitation of  my darling friend, composer/conductor Raul Gomez and his lovely wife Ruby Lou Smith Compleat Stage's latest offering, “An Evening of Short Stories and Sounds,” that took the stage Wednesday, Aug. 27, at The Frenchmen Theatre.

On  Thursday morning I  participated in the very informative Hispanic Chamber of Louisiana Trade show at the Harrah's Hotel.

That evening I was invited to attend the official   Southern Decadence 2014 VIP Kick-off Party (21 photos)

hosted by Grand Marshals XL Chad Boutte and Reba Douglas at the House of Blues. I loved it. The drag queen show was very entertaining and I learned that one of them, Tittie Toulouse, had imitated me in one of her performance. Of course, Iwas flattered.

Darlings, because of work, I almost missed the fun-loving birthday party for Huey Long at the KingFish Restaurant. I made it on time to take photos, have a piece of the birthday cake and a delicious Ramos Gin Fizz prepared by mixologist extraordinaire Chris McMillian. The Ramos Gin Fizz is one of New Orleans' most well-known and delicious cocktails that I look forward to drinking.

Darlings, as Donna Summer's song goes "I work hard for my money" God knows I do but I am very fortunate that the minute I leave Casell-Bergen Gallery, I have not one but two or three parties to attend. One of those soirees was the fabulous Anais St. John's Tribute to Donna Summer (23 photos)

Sexy, talented, sultry chanteuse Anais St. John got everyone on their feet disco-dancing the night away as she played a tribute to the late Queen of Disco, Donna Summer at The Allways Theatre in the Marigny.

I always look forward to the fun-loving, irreverent Southern Decadence Walking Parade and I was not disappointed. Mother Nature provided beautiful sunny skies to enjoy the parade.

Darlings, only in New Orleans we say sadly goodbye to the Southern Decadence revelers and welcome with open arms The National Baptist Convention. NBC, USA, Inc. will convene in New Orleans for the 134th Annual Session, September 1-5. The four-day event, with more than 18,000 attendees, will feature sessions and seminars pertaining to various aspects of church life as well as the election of a new president.  Praise The Lord!

Darlings, I am looking forward to this upcoming week, since on Wednesday, September 3, I will be hosting the Royal Sonesta's Round Table Luncheon at noon in the elegant Fleur de Lis Suite. Pull out your favorite psychedelic shift dress, grab your Jackie O. inspired accessories, and get your bouffant hair style ready because the Round Table Luncheon is taking a journey back to 1964.

Much can change in a half a century but some things remain the same: our love for the music of the Beatles and our commitment to the cultural arts in New Orleans. The famous foursome played a concert in New Orleans 50 years ago this month and we are celebrating with Beatles-inspired entertainment and a look at some of the premiere cultural arts organizations of our city.

With the 2014-15 cultural season upon us, the Royal Sonesta is pulling back the curtain for a sneak peek on what’s in store this season. The event will feature Robert Lyall, Artistic Director of the New Orleans Opera, who will speak about the upcoming productions planned for the fall. Lyall has been the artistic director of the New Orleans Opera Association since December of 1998. Maestro Dennis Assaf, Jefferson Performing Arts Society’s Artistic Director, will share the latest news about JPAS. Assaf is a co-founder of the organization and has built a thriving cultural climate for Jefferson Parish. James William Boyd, Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, will provide an overview of the company’s upcoming season. Boyd has been with the LPO since 2011. Finally, we will hear from Executive Director of the New Orleans Ballet Association, Jenny Hamilton, about the season ahead at NOBA.

Guests will enjoy entertainment by the very talented Leslie Castay, a veteran of the Broadway stage and a resident of New Orleans. Castay will be accompanied Round Table’s resident pianist, Jim Walpole. Vocalist Cliff Johnson will provide a musical blast from the past as he salutes the Beatles and shares a sneak peek of what we can expect at the WYES Beatles tribute concert coming up on September 16. (see menu and reservation details below).

On September 3, will be the "We Live to Eat Kickoff Celebration" at The Chicory. For the first time, this event is open-to-the-public and attendees will be able to sample culinary delights from a handful of participating chefs as they offer a "sneak peek" of their Restaurant Week menus, while imbibing in libations from Stella Artois and NOLA Brewing, as well as specialty wines. A portion of ticket sales will benefit the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that exists to enhance the restaurant community through expanded educational and career opportunities.

On Thursday , September 4, Jazz in the Park returns for nine straight weeks this fall with a stellar roster of New Orleans music that features Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, Los Hombres Caliente, Stephanie Jordan, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktett, Shamarr Allen and the Underdogs, Jon Cleary, and Nigel Hall and his Congregation, to name a few. Taking the stage in Armstrong Park this Thursday will be To Be Continued Brass Band / Shannon Powell Band/Landry Marching Band.

Darlings, on Friday, September 5, I am looking forward to attend  this event: VELADA FLAMENCA: NOCHE EN SEVILLA! An evening enveloped in the essence of Andalucia, the Spanish birthplace of Flamenco! Cocktails at 8 pm, dinner & show to follow at 3405 Royal Street (corner of Desire).

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation is gearing up for its 17th Annual Save Our Lake & Coast Fishing Rodeo On September 5 and 6. Your registration will allow you to fish the rodeo, receive a T-shirt, an LPBF membership and a chance in a drawing to win a fishing trip with Don Dubuc. Proceeds from the rodeo will allow LPBF to continue to provide essential, proactive programs that protect and restore the entire Basin, including water quality, coastal restoration, habitat preservation, public access and on-going support of the New Canal Lighthouse Museum and Education Center.

Put in your calendar: We Live to Eat (WLTE) Restaurant Week - September 8-14 - a weeklong celebration showcasing New Orleans' finest restaurants. Locals and visitors alike will be able to enjoy exclusive discounted two-course lunch ($20 or less) and three-course dinner menus ($39 or less) from more than 50 of the city's most acclaimed dining destinations including celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse's flagship restaurants - Emeril's, Emeril's Delmonico and NOLA Restaurant; acclaimed Chef John Besh establishments - Domenica, Lüke, Borgne, La Provence and August; New Orleans culinary institutions Galatoire's, Arnaud's and Commanders Palace; Drago's Seafood Restaurant; Mr. B's Bistro; Le Foret; Ruth's Chris Steakhouse; SoBou; Galatoire's 33 Bar & Steak and many more.

On Sunday, September 7 at 5 pm Trinity Artist Series presents Paul Sanchez, New Orleans homegrown Irish Channel Troubadour, composer of the highly popular musical, “Nine Lives,” and founding member of the New Orleans rock band Cowboy Mouth. Paul returns to Trinity with his guitar, songs and the stories of Life between stepping on stage there for the first time, and now.

Have a nice week- it is yours to be.

WYES CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BEATLES CONCERT IN NEW ORLEANS
WYES Recreates A Night New Orleanians Never Forgot And Can't Wait To Relive

New Orleans, LA - On September 16, 1964, New Orleans experienced mass
hysteria among teenagers when John, Paul, George and Ringo performed before a crowd of 12,000 at City Park
Stadium (now Tad Gormley Stadium). The day would not be easily forgotten especially when Mayor Victor
Schiro gave the band a key to the city and signed a proclamation declaring Wednesday, September 16, "Beatles
Day In New Orleans." Exactly 50 years ago from the date, WYES will turn back the clock for Beatles fans with a
very special event - a live concert from The Beatles tribute band, The Fab Four, to be held at the same location.

"Twist N Shout" in your favorite '60s era attire during the WYES BEATLES TRIBUTE FEATURING THE FAB
FOUR concert on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium. An Ed Sullivan look-alike will
kick off the 90-minute concert before The Fab Four performs uncanny, note-for-note live renditions of Beatles'
classics such as "Can't Buy Me Love," "Yesterday," "A Day In The Life," "Twist And Shout," "Here Comes The
Sun," "Hey Jude," and more. There's no doubt that The Fab Four will make you think you are watching the real
thing. General admission tickets are $35. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and there is no assigned seating. Concession
stands will be open selling food, drinks, beer and more!

Stop for a photo-op at the entrance to Tad Gormley Stadium where concert goers can pose on the Zebra
crossing with a white Volkswagen Beetle positioned to recreate The Beatles most famous photo - the iconic
Abbey Road album cover.

For those looking for a more personal experience, join WYES during the VIP reception beginning at 5:00 p.m. at
the WYES Studios at 916 Navarre Avenue. VIP guests will receive the VIP Fan Package which includes
admission for one to the VIP reception with food, drinks and a special appearance by The Fab Four; one ticket
for VIP floor seating at the concert in Tad Gormley Stadium; roundtrip transportation from reception and concert;
concert t-shirt; and stadium seat cushion. VIP tickets are $150.

Relive The Beatles wildly popular performance or finally experience the concert you missed all those years ago.
Tickets are on sale now at wyes.org or 504.457.2934.
