A Toast to New Orleans and YOU: Week of June 12-19 : Hendrick's Flora Adora Mix-Off/Mescal Tasting/ Julio and Cesar/ Opera in the Pizza / Death by Chocolate/ and more

Good afternoon my darling family and friends. May we kick off the week of Monday, June 12 with STRENGTH, COURAGE, AND GRATITUDE. And may we remember that all things are possible when love is present. “Begin your week with mindfulness. End your week with mindfulness. And in between, be mindful every moment.” “Mondays are tough only for those people who don’t know how to spend them cheerfully. Get up and have fun today!” Have a blessed week. Stay cool and hydrated

😘

Darlings, this past week was tsunami of social activities that kept me going like an Eveready Rabbit.  I enjoyed so much attending the 31st New Orleans Wine and Food Experience and treating myself to the delicious and decadent Brennan's Champagne and Caviar Tasting, and the Spanish Wine Dinner (Cena de Vino) at Galatoire's.
I think one of the highlights of my week was seeing my darling longtime Patti Nickell.
The legendary Commander's Palace was the setting for a delicious dinner with my longtime friend, award-winner travel writer Patti Nickell, who was in town from Lexington, Kentucky for the re-opening of the Aquarium. We have traveled all over the world, and I have missed her tremendously.  We were greeted and treated to a delicious dinner by my darling friend Co-Proprietor Ti Adelaine Martin and Executive Chef Meg Bickford. We had a lot to catch since the pandemonium and fortunately Patti will be returning in December, and I cannot wait.

The Dreamboat poolside lounge of the Virgin Hotel was the venue for the lovely and delicious Haspel 's celebration of the National Seersucker Day. I love seeing longtime friends and meeting new ones.

The 2023 NOWFE Champagne and Caviar at Brennan's was the perfect bubbly way to welcome this year New Orleans Wine and Food Experience The lovely outdoor evening featured Luxury Champagnes by Charles Heidsieck & Piper-Heidsieck, delicious oysters with caviar, and many different canapes. My darling longtime friend Christian Pendleton expertly sabered one of the bottles to the delight of the guests.

NOWFE's  2023 Wednesday Dinner at Galatoire's was bubbly and delicious. Guests enjoyed the culinary expertise of Executive Chef PHILLIP L. LOPEZ who created a delicious dinner "Cena de Vino" Featuring Premium Spanish Wines from the Vino Wholesale Portfolio. I am still salivating on the exquisite Mango Gazpacho and the empanadas. I enjoyed the company of Aimee Brown very much, Executive Director of NOWFE, as well as David and Julie Gooch and many new and old friends.

The annual Krewe of Cork 2023 NOWFE Luncheon at Antoine's was delicious. The costume de rigor was Toga, and everyone looked so regal in the costumed ou
fits. It was too hot for me to participate in the Royal Street Stroll, but I am sure it was spectacular. We were honored to have the presence of 2023 Krewe of Cork Grand Marshal, Dave Ready, Winemaker of Murphy-Goode.Congratulation to dynamic Walt Navoy for being selected as the new Captain and  Maurye Aycock for being selected the first female lieutenant!

Last year I missed the Heart Ball after attending NOWFE Grand Tasting but this year I brought change of clothes and felt blessed to have attended the fabulous, elegant and delicious American Heart Association's 2023 New Orleans Heart Ball at the lovely Higgins Hotel. Funds raised at the New Orleans Heart Ball will help the American Heart Association to continue the fight against cardiovascular diseases and defects – the #1 killer in the state of Louisiana and in the country.

I love to sail and used to do it when I lived in NYC.  I was taught sailing by Gary Jobson, when he went to school at SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schyler. Gary was a tactician for Ted Turner on Courageous during the 1977 America's Cup. I went to the final in San Diego. He is President of the National Sailing Hall of Fame. Gary has been the National Chairman of The Leukemia Cup Regatta program since 1994 and I saw him a few years ago when he was here for the Leukemia Regatta.
