A Toast to New Orleans: October 8-14: Jazz Society Soiree/Le Petit 's Noise Off/ Magic in the Moonlight/ Round Table Luncheon on Oct 16 & more
Darlings,

Once again, thanks to our beloved Saints there is an air of victory after their awesome game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After attending a myriad of parties and fundraisers, I truly enjoyed cooking lunch for my brother Lorenzo and I and loved staying home and watching the fun game. Geaux Saints!

This past week, like every week in October, I was going on like an Ever Ready Bunny that keeps going and going, but of course I loved it.

The lovely Courtyard of the historic Beauregard-Keyes House was the setting of the Annual Patio Planters of the Vieux Carre on the evening of October 5. It was a delicious Pot Luck Supper enjoyed by all while talented pianist, Jim Walpole, provided lovely background music.

March of Dimes at the Omni Royal “Signature Chefs Auction” Brought Culinary Excellence Together to Help Moms and Babies.

I joined briefly the 2019 New Orleans Signature Chefs Auction, an annual gathering of New Orleans finest culinary talent in support of March of Dimes. This year’s event marked the 81st anniversary for March of Dimes, and it was celebrated at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel, home of the Lead Chef, Tom Wolfe

What a Night! I rushed out of the March of Dimes' Signature Chefs fundraiser to attend my favorite opera, Bizet’s “Carmen,” at the Mahalia Jackson Theater on Friday, October 4.

Dressed with my Spanish mantilla and comb, I enjoyed this production of “Carmen” so much. For those who missed it that evening, “Carmen” played again on Sunday afternoon, October 6.
I enjoyed so much, seeing familiar talented faces playing lead roles such as soprano, Sarah Jane McMahon, who played Micaela, and my darling friend Bass-Baritone, Ivan Griffin, who played Zuniga to the enjoyment of the audience.

After the curtain calls onstage, my darling friend, author Dean Shapiro and I were invited to the Post Production Party celebrating Opening Night of the New Orleans Opera Association’s 2019-20 Season October 4, after 7:30 p.m. performance.

The exquisite mansion of Valerie Besthoff on State Street, was the lovely setting for the annual fundraiser “Bubbles and Bubbly for Beethoven” to benefit LPO Volunteers Encore Shop on October 1. This elegant and delicious evening featured ready-to-purchase designer accessories including handbags, shoes, scarves, jackets and jewelry from the Encore Shop. I came home laden with exquisite designer bags, scarfs and jewelry

Le Petit’s grandest season yet opens this Friday with Michael Frayn’s uproarious Noises Off!, the play that critics and audiences alike have called “Riotous,” “Comic bliss,” and “The funniest comedy ever written!”
It is only hours before the debut performance of a British adult farce, Nothing On, and the cast and crew are desperately trying to make it through just one dress rehearsal before their first audience arrives. But when off-stage jealousies turn into on-stage chaos, what goes on behind the curtain might just be more entertaining than what happens in front of it.
Directed by multiple Big Easy Award-winner Blake Coheley, and featuring a cast of New Orleans’ favorite theatre all-stars, Noises Off will have you laughing from the moment the curtain goes up, until it all comes crashing down.
Noises Off runs October 4-20 and tickets can be purchased on our website or by calling our box office at 504-558-9321. Industry night is October 14 featuring $25 tickets! th
