A TOAST TO NEW ORLEANS May 1-7 : NO Jazz Festival/ Zoo-To-Do/ Jamming on Julia and info about Round Table Luncheon on May 9

Darlings,
Let’s welcome the month of May and the thousands of out-of-towners who are here for the 2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
The sad note was that we lost one of our greatest musicians and a darling friend  of mine, Charles Neville, one of the Neville Brothers, who starred for many years at JazzFest and all over New Orleans and the world. Charles and his daughter Charmine Neville played for my brief marriage in 1983. : http://www.legacy.com/news/celebrity-deaths/notable-deaths/article/charles-neville-2018-saxophonist-for-the-neville
As you probably know, last week was my Birthday Week and, as such, I celebrated it throughout the week.
Margarita's 2018 birthday celebrations on April 24
OMG! What a fun birthday I had. It started at a delicious breakfast at Coulis compliment of my friend, Pam Shipp, and ended at a lovely and delicious wine dinner at Carrabba's Italian Grill at 4641 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, compliments of my darling friends, Nedra Holder and Bernie Ralston. I came home laden with gifts, food and bottles. I was delighted to run into so many friends. I guess I need to spend more time in Metairie. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155193079100870.1073743154.581200869&type=1&l=c7dced9cff
Veuve Clicquot Rose` Luncheon

OMG again! Sunday, April 29 was quite a day. It started at the fabulous, elegant Veuve Cliquot Rose` Luncheon at Galatoire's "33" Bar and Steak where my darling friends, Russ and Sandra Herman, along with Sammy Steele, Vic Planetta, Michael Langford, Hillary and Rene Renee Carrere and Carol Short helped me celebrate my birthday.
I even got to meet Robert Wagner and Jill St. John, who were part of my darling friend, Kathleen Deen Parke's table in the main room of Galatoire's. It was indeed a very memorable, delicious and bubbly luncheon! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155203204085870.1073743157.581200869&type=1&l=58288ed2e4
2018 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, April 29

Thanks to my darling friend and boss, Maria Muro, Publisher of New Orleans Living who provided me with two Big Chief Experience passes to replace the two tickets that my darling friends Carolina Lia Barnes and Dwight Barnes gave me and were lost. I experienced this year 2018 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. I loved seeing my darling artist friends and eating cracklings and listening to Irma Thomas, Jimmy Buffet and George Benson. Usually I only go for a few hours but this time I stayed until the end and my body felt it. I was disappointed that there was not a tent for authors. It was indeed a very memorable experience.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155203228930870.1073743158.581200869&type=1&l=3e0e120f9c
Kick-off event for 2018 Odyssey Ball which will take place on Nov. 10

As a member of NOMA's 2018 Odyssey Host Committee, I was invited to attend a lovely and delicious Odyssey kick-off event at the Ferrari Clubhouse, 5809 Plauche Court, Harahan. Odyssey, in partnership with IBERIABANK, takes place on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park.
The Odyssey Ball celebrates and enhances NOMA in an evening of unparalleled elegance. Critically important to our treasured museum and the wide community it serves, Odyssey raises the funds necessary to support NOMA's nationally recognized exhibitions and educational programs, which bring more than 290,000 annual visitors to the museum and sculpture garden.
Elliot Raisen's 90th Birthday
Darlings, when my darling friend, dynamo Elliott Raisen turned 90 and invited me to his celebration Saturday night at Shir Chadash Synagogue and my darling friend and editor of my blog, Dean Shapiro, offered to drive me to Metairie, the answer of course was YES! It was an incredible and very memorable fun night, with live performances by Bon Operatit, the Komenka Dancers, and my darling friends Natasha Ramer and Suzaune McKamey. I cannot wait for him to turn 100! And, as I only just found out that night, Elliott and I share the same birthday!

WWOZ New Orleans 30th Annual Piano Night

Darlings, the Sold-Out WWOZ New Orleans 30th Annual Piano Night at the House of Blues was awesome. I enjoyed so much seeing so much talent and unfortunately I was too tired to stay until the end but I loved all the performers that played on.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10155205190730870.1073743159.581200869&type=1&l=732a421731

I also attended a lovely birthday celebration for my darling friend, Russ Herman, at the luncheon of the The Club of New Orleans at Briquette NOLA. Happy Birthday Russ!
Darlings, please put in your calendar:
