A Toast to New Orleans February 20 -27: Color Purple/ “Black and White Ball/ Ballet de Monte Carlo /CAC's SweetArt Ball and info about Round Table Luncheon on March 7

Darlings, it feels so good to have survived Carnival 2018 and the frigid weather prior to Mardi Gras.  This past week, I didn't do anything special but  I enjoy recharging  my batteries for this upcoming hectic week. The glorious warm weather is such a blessing and I look forward to  attending many fun events.
I am starting my week today by attending a press conference for the upcoming French Quarter Festival that will be celebrating its 35th anniversary from April 12-15, 2018.
The Faulkner Society opens its annual series of six free, public concerts Tuesday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1100 Chartres Street (part of the historic Ursuline Convent Complex). "Soul of the City: 300 Years of Musical Diversity,

artist is the superbly talented pianist, Tom McDermott, who will take us on a musical journey from "Bamboula to Boogie." You won't want to miss his performance.
Noted New Orleans historian, Nancy Dixon, will introduce the series with remarks about the importance of music in the lives of New Orleanians since its founding 300 years ago. She will spotlight them for this year's series, "Soul of the City: 300 Years of Musical Diversity." Email faulkhouse@aol.com for complete details on the program. The concerts are free but they do take voluntary donation collections at each concert. This year's collections will go to St. Jude Community Center, one of the city's most important resources for the disadvantaged.
I have been invited to go today, Tuesday, Feb. 20, to the opening of the Broadway Across America's presentation of The Color Purple that will be playing at the Saenger Theatre through  Feb. 25.
On Wednesday, Feb. 21,  I have been  invited to several fun soirees that include a  private reception for members of the Tricentennial Commission to toast the city’s 300th birthday and the deep historical ties between New Orleans and the Principality of Monaco. The event will celebrate our cultural and culinary collaboration in advance of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo’s return tour. We are invited invite you to celebrate the magic of Monaco in New Orleans this month.for the celebration of Monaco Week in New Orleans.
