Darlings,
This past week there were so many fabulous occasions to Toast to New Orleans at the many fun, delicious events that I attended.
One of them was the Southern Food & Beverage Museum's Baguette Battle: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154373827575870.1073742858.581200869&type=1&l=52601abe96
That evening my darling friend, Jessica Harris, was reading and autographing her book, My Soul Looks Back: A Memoir, at Garden District Book Shop, 2727 Prytania Street.
Culinary Historian Jessica Harris at the Garden Book store accompanied by  Lolis Eric Elie, an award-winning writer, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and cookbook author.
writer, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and cookbook author.
Another event that I enjoyed very much attending was the Louisiana First Foundation's New Orleans Seersucker, Hats and Sazeracs, hosted by Louisiana First Lady, Donna Edwards, at the Windsor Court Hotel. It was just lovely and delicious and for a great cause.
I enjoyed so much seeing Donna again and her husband, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. In case you did not know, the Foundation's Mission is to seek the enhancement of Louisiana children's education with an emphasis on Music, Art and Movement. I am grateful to my darling friends Russ and Sandra Herman for hosting me at this fabulous event that was sponsored by Ochsner Health System.
The annual French-American Chamber of Commerce's 2017 SUMMER WINE FEST at the Shops at Canal Place was delicious: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154380863770870.1073742860.581200869&type=1&l=e8f6ac878d

All week, I was looking forward to attending, in addition to the Annual Summer Wine Fest, the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Tulane's Summer Lyric Theater: 50th Anniversary Gala - Let's Go on with the Show! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154380906385870.1073742861.581200869&type=1&l=5d3525a63a

On Sunday afternoon, I finally got to see the New Orleans Opera production of As One at the Marigny Opera House. I really enjoyed it and got to meet the composer, Laura Kaminsky.

On a sad note, my darling friend Lynette Stillwell passed away yesterday. She will be missed by all of those that were honored to have known her. Funeral details will follow.

Recital by internationally acclaimed harpsichordist Benjamin Alard presented by St. Mary's Chapel (Old Ursuline Convent).
  Thursday, June 8, 2017.  6 PM
Where: St. Mary's Chapel (Old Ursuline Convent), 1116 Chartres St., New Orleans, LA. 70116
BENJAMIN ALARD'S principal passion has always been the music of J.S. Bach and it was for his interpretation of this great composer that he was awarded first prize in the 2004 International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges.  While still quite young he began studying music in his hometown in Dieppe, France. He was soon drawn to the organ and entered the Conservatory of Rouen where he studied with Louis Thiry and François Ménissier.  He was first introduced to the harpsichord by Elizabeth Joyé, with whom he studied in Paris before going on, in 2003, to the Schola Cantorum in Basel to work with Jorg-Andreas Botticher, Jean-Claude Zehnder and Andrea Marcon. Since 2007 he has been organist of the Bernard-Aubertin organ in the church of Saint-Louis-en-l'Ile in Paris where each season he organizes Sunday morning concerts in collaboration with "Les Amis de l'Orgue" and "Jeunes Talents."
Today Alard divides his time between performing recitals and chamber music on both the harpsichord and organ. He is regularly invited to perform as soloist in music series in Europe, Japan and North America.  Mr. Alard collaborates with leading ensembles such as La Petite Bande (Drector Sigiswald Kuijken), Capriccio Stravagante (Director Skip Sempé) and the Venice Baroque Orchestra (Director Andrea Marcon).  He has recorded 10 CDs for the Hotrus, Alpha and Accent record companies.  The Souvigny Festival recently issued a DVD of his recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations.   All of Bach: A Project of the Netherlands Bach Society recently issued two videos and interviews with Mr. Alard.  They are available at: http://allofbach.com/en/bwv/bwv-933-938/ and http://allofbach.com/en/bwv/bwv-933-938/.
PROGRAM:  Mr. Alard will perform the preludes and allemande from L'art de toucher le clavecin by François Couperin and The Italian Concerto (BWV 971) and The French Overture (BWV 831) by Johann Sebastian Bach
A free will donation will be taken at this recital for the purchase of a Steinway Piano for St. Mary's Chapel and the restoration of the chapel's historic Pilcher pipe organ.

It's Only a Play

Darlings, please put in your Calendar that on Friday, June 9, you are coming to Le Petit Theatre to see the delightful " It's Only a Play."
The Broadway Smash Comedy Opens at Le Petit!
Join The NOLA Project and Le Petit Theatre as we close out our 2016-2017 seasons with this hysterical co-production of Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play. Featuring a veritable "Who's Who" of New Orleans actors, this rip-roaring farce SHOULD NOT be missed.
It's the opening night of the brand new play The Golden Egg on Broadway, and wealthy producer Julia Budder is throwing a lavish party in her opulent Manhattan townhouse. Downstairs, the celebrity guests are pouring in. But the real action is upstairs in the bedroom-where a group of insiders eagerly await the opening night reviews.
"This show is without a doubt hilariously, sidesplittingly funny... These are among the funniest lines to roll to a stage in years...It's Only a Play deserves only a rave." -The New York Times
It's Only a Play opens on Friday, June 9th and runs through June 25th. Discounted tickets are available on Monday, June 19th for our Industry Night performance!
Ticket Information:
$35-50 | Adults

June 9-11,  16-18

By William Shakespeare
June 4-18, 2017     |     Tulane's Lupin Theater
Directed by Emilie Whelan in collaboration with Cripple Creek Theatre Company
Runtime: Approximately 100 minutes with no intermission
This production toured to underserved audiences - as well as a prison - before opening the Festival's mainstage season!
A bawdy comedy that turns raw and heartbreaking, The Taming of the Shrew confronts the intimate makings of a servant. As Petruchio sets out to "tame" the unbridled Katherina - and men vie for the affections of the dutiful Bianca - themes of disguise, subversion, and costume run rampant.

World Naked Bike Ride
Saturday, June 10th, 2017
Darlings, have you got your body ready for Saturday, June 10? I was very disappointed with the bodies of the riders that showed off at the Naked Bike.
By the way, when I posted my photos I was censored by Facebook, so I must be careful this time!

Parade Ride 4pm
After Party 7pm
Click for More Info and to View the Route
from Mickey Markey Park through the French Quarter
and back to the Bywater

This year's theme is "We are not targets"
It's a non-confrontational way of getting the message
out to (automobile) drivers that we (bicyclists) are vulnerable.
One of our favorite slogans is, 'Can you see me now?' A lot
of times drivers aren't paying attention. They're not used to
seeing cyclists, but when you're naked they see you.

Two Vintage bikes (male and female) will be raffled off this year
to offset expenses for the ride. Bike raffle tickets will be sold at
the park before the ride. The drawing will take place in the park
following the ride. Posters and bike stickers will be on sale at both
the park and at the Castillo Blanco after party

This year's clothing-optional After Party takes place
at Castillo Blanco (the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus den)
at 4321 St. Claude Ave. Admission $10. For updates, visit:
