A Toast to New Orleans and You: Week of December 11 - 17: Irma Thomas Concert at St Louis Cathedral/ Spectacular Holiday Round Table Luncheon om 12/15 at Briquette's and more Good afternoon my darling family and friends. A sunny, cool Monday December 11 is greeting us. Congratulations Saints! I feel blessed to be alive, healthy, and able to have enjoyed a very memorable week & looking forward to another one. Tonight Grammy Award winner Irma Thomas will be entertaining us at the Free concert at St. Louis Cathedral at 6 p.m. “Every day, think as you wake up: Today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.” — Dalai Lama XIV. Last minute to pay and RSVP for the spectacular Round Table Luncheon on Friday, December 15 at 11:30 AM at Briquette's. We will be entertained by popular Latin Guitarists Julio and Cesar, talented entertainers Kynt Kenneth Bryant, Kate Fagan Burgun, Marshall Harris, Bill Hudson, Carl Mack, Paul Mauffray, MaryFlynn Thomas, and Suzaune Yee McKamey performing the popular 12 Days of Christmas. Talented New Orleans Queen of Mardi Gras Posters Andrea Mistretta will be unveiling her 2024 Mardi Gras Poster. Limited to only 220 guests. Champagne will be flowing as well as the delicious Cucumber Hendrick's Gin provided by Jorge Lauriano Jr. , Division Manager at William Grant & Sons Darlings last week was a very hectic week, full of fun-filled events. Unfortunately, after attending 4 parties on Friday and the lovely and delicious Hall of Fame Awards Luncheon at Briquette, my light dimmed, and I could not Get -Lit at the spectacular Art Council's Luna Fete Ball. I hate missing it since I have bought an incredibly beautiful gown with colorful lights. I also missed the Opera Guild's Eggnog Soiree. Among the memorable soirees that I attended were the following: The annual Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony of the Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business .This year,the Center bestowed not just one, but two Lifetime Achievement Awards to Gayle Benson and First Lady Donna Edwards. Both women were honored for their amazing achievements in business and for their incredible generosity they have shown to so so many deserving entities throughout the state. It also inducted into the Hall of Fame Major Andrea Renee Brinkley from the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office; New Orleans entrepreneur Laurie Guimont; environmental justice activist Sharon Lavigne, and former Louisiana state representative and founder of Ellevate Julie Stokes. It also honored two outstanding Men for Supporting Strong Women, Dr. Jay Clune, president of Nicholls State University, and Commissioner of Administration for Gov. John Bel Edwards, and former Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne. Congratulations to the honorees of Louisiana Center for Women in Government & Business's 2023 Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony at Briquette!
