KYIV CITY BALLET

Kyiv City Ballet - New Orleans Ballet Association

SAT | OCT 22, 2022 | 7:30PM

Amid a greater struggle, the exemplary dancers of Ukraine’s Kyiv City Ballet are a “voice of resistance” (National Geographic) on the global stage, bringing light and joy in the darkness to audiences worldwide. On February 23, the company unknowingly took what would be one of the last flights out of Ukraine for a long-planned tour. They have since not been able to return home and have been sheltered by France, performing throughout the country and in Europe. Marking their first performances in the U.S., this magnificent company, under the direction of former Mariinsky Theater artist Ivan Kozlov, brings “Tribute to Peace,” a program of works by Ukrainian choreographers. From classical ballet to Ukrainian folk dance, this inspiring evening that showcases the very best of this country’s rich cultural heritage will feature two of the top prima ballerinas of Ukraine – Krystina Kadashevych and Oksana Bondarenko – and Vsevolod Maevskiy, formerly with St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Ballet. In a show of support and solidarity with these artists, audiences will be uplifted by their talent and sheer determination to continue through such vast adversity.TICKETSSAT | OCT 22, 2022 | 7:30PM Mahalia Jackson Theater New Orleans, Louisiana.SUBSCRIPTIONS

Krewe of BOO! became New Orleans' Official Halloween Parade in 2007 and since then has grown to be a spooktacular weekend of Halloween-themed events, combining the magnitude of Mardi Gras with the macabre theatrics of All Hallow's Eve.

Featuring floats of world-renowned Kern Studios, the parade's beautifully horrific props and sculptures start with talented Kern artists, sketching creative images for the unique Krewe of BOO! Once approved by Chief Spookster Brian Kern’s discerning eye, the images “come to life” as 3-dimensional fiberglass or papier-mâché props that excite and frighten parade-goers with their imaginative artistic style.

Kern Studios is the premier float building organization in America, and the Kern quality rolls in celebrations throughout the world. The thrill of riding amongst the monsters and eerie creatures in Krewe of BOO! is an exhilarating experience you will always remember. Join the Krewe today!

The Improvisations Gala will encompass the full block of the historic Mint property that houses the New Orleans Jazz Museum.  Attendees will be treated to spectacular cuisine by Messina’s Catering & Events, a PJ’s Coffee and beignet station, an array of specialty cocktails, wine, and beverages by Crescent Crown Distributing and Coca-Cola. The VIP Lounge is sponsored by the Gia Maione Prima Foundation.
Event co-chairs David Piscola with Lisa Ramsay Piscola and Dr. Henry Bart with Wendy Lodrig Bart are excited about the growth and popularity of the Improv Gala. “As soon as we announced that Early Bird tickets were available, fans began purchasing without even knowing who would be performing. That speaks volumes about the reputation the event has achieved in the community and the overwhelming interest in supporting the Jazz Museum,” stated David Piscola, on behalf of the Gala committee.
Another new feature in 2022 is an online auction that will run from November 7th through December 5th, enabling gala guests and those who aren’t able to attend the gala the opportunity to support the Museum’s fundraising efforts. Items such as a sunset sailing excursion, wine tasting, a three-day VIP package to the Aspen Jazz Festival, a private dinner for eight guests including cocktails at The Rooftop on Basin, a bourbon tasting, overnight hotel stays, restaurant certificates, jewelry and artwork will be available.
Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser joins luminaries Herb Alpert, Jon Batiste, Randy Fertel, Wynton Marsalis and Dan Pritzker as Honorary Improvisations Gala Co-Chairs.  “The New Orleans Jazz Museum has become one of the foremost attractions of our city and state,” said Nungesser. “And, the potential is unlimited, particularly once the recently announced expansion funded by the federal Economic Development Administration.
Executive Director Greg Lambousy is thrilled with the strides being made at the Museum and stresses the importance of the annual Improv Gala.  “All proceeds from Improvisations will further enhance exhibits, music programming, events and the Jazz Museum Education Center, allowing the Jazz Museum to globally promote jazz as one of the most innovative, historically pivotal musical art forms through highly-interactive exhibits, as well as support ongoing musical and educational programming for a new generation of musicians.”  He added, “We are especially fortunate this year to be the beneficiary of a $100,000 matching grant from the acclaimed artist, Herb Alpert, which enhances the value of sponsorship, ticket sales and auction revenue.”
