A Toast to New Orleans and all the survivors of CODIV 19 Week of Tuesday, September 8 to September 15

A Toast to New Orleans and all the survivors  of CODIV 19 Week of Tuesday, September 8 to September 15

Good afternoon darling friends. A beautiful Tuesday, September 8, awaits us after a peaceful Labor Day weekend.
Let's welcome it with gratefulness in our heart for being alive, breathing, healthy in this blessed day. Let's pray for those affected by the fires in California, for those with COVID 19. Let's pray for the homeless by Hurricane Laura and let's also pray for those that lost their lives. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Happy Tuesday: a day to choose to bless everyone you meet; a day to choose to be kind, considerate, and compassionate; a day to be humble by showing how much you put others before your own self; and, a day to celebrate love with your family and friends.
Have a beautiful day! Take time to enjoy the wonder and beauty of each moment. Life is about creating yourself, not finding yourself. Have a blessed Tuesday!😘

Gov. John Bel Edwards will hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon to address updates on Hurricane Laura.

Edwards said he and the Department of Health are closely monitoring data and did not want to see a spike after Labor Day similar to Memorial Day.  He also said that he is going to speak with the White House Coronavirus Task Force before making a decision on changing phases or staying in phase two. He will let us know on Friday's press conference.

Attending the Joan of Arc exhibit of the winners of the art contest at Ariodante Art Gallery was so much fun.I was amazed of how talented the participants were.

The monthly Round Table Luncheon has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2020; of course, depending on whether we are in Phase 3.

I am calling it "A Path to Recovery and Normalcy Round Table Luncheon" and it will be at Galatoire’s famous restaurant, 209 Bourbon Street, in the French Quarter. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the luncheon itself, with guest speakers, will begin at 12:00 noon.

The event is sold-out but those wishing to attend should phone in or send an email to get onto the waiting list, as some cancellations might be expected. Following strict social distance regulations, the luncheon has been limited to only 80 guests in tables of six.

Guests and speakers are required to wear masks and a prize will be awarded for the most creative mask.

Invited guest speakers include Mayor LaToya Cantrell; Chief Medical Editor for WDSU Channel 6, Dr. Corey Hebert; President/CEO Daniel Hammer of The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC ); President of the New Orleans Entertainment Coalition, Sandra Thompson Herman; and Amy Boyle Collins, CEO of Gambel Communications.

The live entertainment will include the talented and beloved entertainers Becky Allen, Marshall Harris, Carl Mack and pianist Jim Walpole.

Executive Chef Phillip Lopez has prepared a delicious menu:

Salad: Salad Maison

Entrée: Trout Amandine with Steamed Asparagus

Dessert: Caramel Cup Custard

The Round Table Luncheon is celebrating its 15th year. Since it started in August 2005, the monthly event has been attracting a distinguished guest list of influential movers and shakers. Modeled after Dorothy Parker’s famed gatherings at the old Algonquin Hotel in New York, each luncheon focuses on a current topic of interest locally within the arts, cultural activities, and philanthropic initiatives that set our community apart and enhance our quality of life.

Great news: We're back! THNOC's Tricentennial Wing to open September 8 with three installations
The galleries in The Historic New Orleans Collection's Tricentennial Wing, located at 520 Royal Street, will officially reopen Tuesday, September 8, 2020, with three new exhibitions: Cajun Document: Acadiana, 1973 - 74; French Quarter Life: People and Places in the Vieux Carre; and Land of Dreams. The Shop at The Collection will resume in-store shopping at the same time.
Reserve tickets online
These new additions will join THNOC’s current offerings: the courtyard displays, the self-guided walking tours available in THNOC’s free French Quarter Tours app, pre-scheduled visits to the Williams Research Center, and Café Cour. Some areas -- such as the History of the French Quarter Galleries, the educational galleries, the Louisiana History Galleries, and the Williams Residence -- will remain closed. And, while the galleries are reopening, we will continue to offer a variety of online programming.

For your safety, we are carefully observing and enforcing reduced capacity limits in all of our spaces to easily accommodate social distancing. Details on THNOC’s revised safety protocols are available online.

Admission is still free, and the galleries will be open, Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Ordering your tickets online is required, and tickets may be scheduled up to seven (7) days in advance. If you need assistance reserving tickets, please email events@hnoc.org or call (504) 598-7146.
