A Toast to New Orleans Feb.11-16 : Horses, Hops and Cops Fundraiser/ Krewe of Cork Parade/ Mystic Krewe of Barkus & more

Dressed as the 2020 Queen Yolande de Aragon, I was honored to be invited, along with members of the Krewe of Jeanne d'Arc, to attend the premiere of the New Orleans Opera Association’s production of Tchaikovsky's "Joan of Arc" at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts on Friday, February 7.

I loved the talented cast and the production and felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet them at the Mastersigners Reception hosted by the Consul General of France Vincent Sciama, and his wife, Yuanyuan Sciama, at the Residence of France. Mezzo-soprano, Hilary Ginther, making her New Orleans Opera debut, sang the title role and New Orleans native, Casey Candebat, starred as King Charles VII.

Album Broussard's Centennial Anniversary Celebration (24 photos)toast to another centennial!

I was in heaven on Thursday, February 6, when the venerable iconic Broussard's restaurant celebrated its centennial of fine dining. Moet Chandon was flowing freely from everywhere I moved and, of course, I loved it!
Since Broussard’s first opened its doors in 1920, the sensational French-Creole cuisine and historic French Quarter architecture have delighted locals and visitors alike. I have been coming to Broussard's since I arrived in New Orleans in 1978. I love the courtyard and the elegant dining rooms and of course its beautiful Empire Bar.
I will always cherish my memorable experiences at the beautiful Broussard's . A toast to another centennial!

Darlings, this week has always been of one of my favorite during the Carnival Season.
As one of the 20 Queens of the 2020 Krewe of Cork, I will be representing Spanish Cava as its Queen and will be attending a lot of queenly duties such as meeting, on Tuesday, the Grand Marshal, Charles Smith, at the airport. On Wednesday I’ll be attending a Grand Marshall Wine Dinner at Bayona, then on Thursday, the Queen’s Brunch at Antoine's, followed that night by the meet and greet party for members of the Krewe at Hotel Mazarin.

Friday, February 14 - Valentine's Day - is Krewe of Cork Parade day and, as in the past, it will start with a Queens’ Breakfast, followed by luncheon at The Court of the Two Sisters. The parade will be at 3 p.m. (see parade route).

I am going to be followed by a crew from French Television 2 during this event and a few others.

These are some of the other events that will be happening as well:

Krewe of Cork logo
Founded in 2000, the Krewe of Cork celebrates food, wine and fun with a spirited walking parade through the French Quarter eleven days before Mardi Gras. Krewe members wear costumes with a wine-related theme, toss throws bearing their grape logo, and are accompanied along their route by wine police in golf carts (the wine police motto is "To serve and pour”). The parade's Grand Marshal is a different vintner ever year, and the krewe stops in front of selected hotel restaurants for toasts. After the procession ends, the wine continues to flow at the "King and Queen Libation Ball.”
