Darlings,
Mother Nature blessed us this week with glorious spring weather to enjoy the French Quarter Festival and all the other events that my beloved New Orleans has to offer! I am still recuperating from my chest cold so I had to take it easy most of the time but I enjoyed tremendously all the fun events that I attended, which included the following:
25th Anniversary WYES Producers Circle
Darlings, whenever I get an invitation from WYES, I always say YES! This time, it was to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of WYES Producers Circle at the lovely residence of Tia and Jimmy Roddy on Audubon Place.
Glorious spring weather greeted the members of the Producers Circle as we enjoyed the culinary delights and the decadent libations. State Representative Neil Abramson was presented with a beautiful crystal award for his hard work in behalf of our wonderful public television station WYES. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154220901550870.1073742825.581200869&type=1&l=6112839c2a
French Quarter Festival Gala 2017
The annual French Quarter Festival Gala was the perfect fundraiser to kick-off the 34th annual French Quarter Festival that ran through Sunday, April 9.
The selection of food was spectacular and since I have this horrible chest cold, I have lost my appetite but all the other people really enjoyed the culinary creations of historic Antoine's Restaurant. I saw many of my darling friends, including the new French Quarter Festival President & CEO, Emily Madero.
Guests enjoyed music by Players Ella and Louis Tribute Band, tastings by Antoine’s and other festival favorites, and open bar courtesy of Abita Brewing Company and Republic Beverages. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154220995600870.1073742826.581200869&type=1&l=7e06d1c610
Listening and learning about Cuba from Hermes Mallea, author of Great Houses of Cuba- A Century of Style at the New Orleans Museum of Art, made me realize that my next trip has to be to Cuba, birthplace of my father.  The lecture sponsored by the New Orleans Hispanic Foundation was well-attended and very informative. I bought his book and I cannot wait to read it.
