A Toast to New Orleans: Literary Round Table Luncheon/Beaujolais Nouveau/Azucar Ball

Darlings,

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful super yellow moon that Mother Nature treated us to. It was an awesome sight!

Even though I still have a sore knee, it did not stop me from attending a myriad of fun events that included the fabulous Le Petit Theatre's production of “Freud 's Last Session”; the opening night of New Orleans Opera's production of “Macbeth”; LA SPCA's Howling Wolf; New Orleans Museum of Art's Odyssey Ball; the National WWII 's Victory Ball; JPAS' production of Funny Girl; The Louisiana Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation presented the 9th annual Uncork the Cure Champagne Tasting at the Cannery;

Rehearsal Hall

While working as a performance company, students will learn the fundamentals of collaborative theater-making and artistic training.
This workshop engages the students in a detailed approach of Theater Mitu's training methodology of Whole Theater. Whole Theater is defined as a theatrical experience that is rigorously visual, aural, emotional, intellectual and spiritual-both in creation and in performance.
More about Whole Theater: This demanding physical training has been developed by extrapolating and synthesizing various trainings from a range of selected world theater traditions. These include but are not limited to: Japanese Noh, Kabuki, Bunraku and Butoh training; Thai Kohn, Drumming and Muay Thai training; Indian Kathakali, Kalaripayattu, and Mohiniattam training; Ethiopian Zayen training; Iranian Ta'zieh training; Peking Opera training; and Islamic/Sufi Whirling training. These root traditions and their training applications will be explored physically as a group. At the root of these investigations is the artist's discipline. The class will investigate and identify lines of artistic and collaborative discipline in order to garner successful models of artistic process, exploration, and creation habits.

"The play is all about taking a city that's become synonymous with death, and reasserting its connection to life." -The Guardian

A gritty performance that delves into economy-driven politics, government corruption, religious fervor, and the familial honor of the city's past, JUÁREZ: A Documentary Mythology embodies the possibility of transformation for a once harried region into a bustling laboratory of the future. Drawn by the contradictions, history, and myth of Juárez, Mexico-once called the"Murder Capital of the World"-Theater Mitu uses interview transcripts of the region's residents to create an emotional map that frames the actors as witnesses to memory.

Conceived and Directed by Rubén Polendo

Rivertown Theaters Presents Politics 1776 Style

Come Beam with Pride and Patriotism as the Hit Musical
Celebrates the Birth of America's Independence
           Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts in Kenner's                    Rivertown will be the center of the most entertaining political process in history when the Tony Award-            winning musical 1776convenes on the Main Stage November 13 -20, just in time to give voters some             relief and diversion from this year's Presidential election mayhem.

            The turning point in American history blazes to vivid life in Rivertown Theater's November musical             offering 1776. A funny, insightful and compelling musical with a striking score and legendary book,             1776puts a human face on the pages of history.
