Darling this past week was a very exciting week that welcomed the lights of the Downtown District.

I enjoyed the kickoff of the start of the Holiday season with the annual Canal Street Lighting Ceremony Tuesday, November 23 at Canal Place. i j Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Gregory Curtis, president of the Downtown Development Distric and other special guests "flipped the switch," marking the beginning of the holidays a very lovely one.

OMG what a fun evening at Nickel a Dance At Maison Club in Frenchman Street. My darling friend talented Carl Mack was one of the players of the New Leviathan Orchestra and Bobby Skinner delighted the audience by playing the wind instrument Theremin! The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer). It is named after its inventor, Leon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928.

Darling this is exciting news: NEW ORLEANS JAZZ MUSEUM JOINS GLOBAL GIVING TUESDAY MOVEMENT ON NOVEMBER 30TH $100,000 Challenge Grant Offers Perfect Opportunity to Double Gift NEW ORLEANS (11/29/21) - The New Orleans Jazz Museum is proud to join the global Giving Tuesday movement on this Tuesday, November 30th to raise funds to further its mission. Donations can be made at www.nolajazzmuseum.org/donate. The New Orleans Jazz Museum was fortunate to recently receive an anonymous $100,000 challenge grant for our Improvisations Gala. All donations made to the New Orleans Jazz Museum will be matched dollar for dollar. We are counting on the generosity of our supporters to help raise an additional $80,000 by December 4th, helping us meet the match. Individuals can also help meet the match by attending the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s fourth annual Improvisations Gala on Saturday, December 4th. For ticket information please see: https://nolajazzmuseum.org/gala. Giving Tuesday, taking place on November 30th, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This year, in wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the Museum has continued to employ local musicians by producing free virtual content every week and continuing its regular Balcony Concert series. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, the museum rallied resources to provide much needed support to elderly musicians and culture bearers. “As the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s mission transformed into providing support to local musicians and culture bearers comprising the city’s vibrant artistic community,” said New Orleans Jazz Museum Director Greg Lambousy. “Donations made during Giving Tuesday and throughout the end of the year will be instrumental in helping us continue our mission.” November 30th Giving Tuesday cont’d. Donations made to the New Orleans Jazz Museum will support exhibits, music programs, including the the Balcony Concert series, and the Jazz Museum Education Center, allowing the Jazz Museum to globally promote jazz as one of the most innovative, historically pivotal musical art forms through highlyinteractive exhibits, as well as support ongoing musical and educational programming. Funds raised will directly benefit the Museum, musicians, students, and educators—working together to support the New Orleans cultural community.
