A Toast to New Orleans and You. Week of May 29- June 5

A Toast to New Orleans and You. Week of May 29- June 5

Good morning my darling family and friends. Today is Memorial Day, May 29 and we honor the men and women that have served and died for our country. "Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it." "Americans may not only pay tribute to our honored dead but also unite in prayer for success in our search for a just and lasting peace." — John F. Kennedy, "Prayer for Peace," Memorial Day 1962. Enjoy this day -stay cool & best wishes for the new week!
This week marks the beginning of the summer months. I have been enjoying the spring weather and all the events that I was able to attend.
Of course, the highlight of my week was hosting the SOLD-OUT Nautical Round Table Luncheon at the lovely Southern Yacht Club, thanks to members Dr. Heather Kahn and her mother Jane Kahn. I could not have asked for a more beautiful day.  Mother Nature provided the perfect day to be overlooking the Pontchartrain Lake. I want to thank the speakers, the entertainers and all my darling friends that made the RTL to be a very memorable one. I am taking a break for the summer months but will return on September 14 for the 18th Annual Round Table Luncheon Saluting the Cultural Arts at Briquette and on October 20 when I will Salute the Hispanic Month and Halloween a la Moulin Rouge at a new exciting venue. Stay tuned for details.
Those photos were provided my talented friend Sergio Cabrera but they are big and i don't know how to make smaller

Top Hat Affair by New Orleans Entertainer- Marshall Harris at the Grand Ballroom of Chateau Estate Country Cub was superb. It featured talented Marshall Harris, Mary Flyn Thomas, Bill Hudson, and others that made it a very memorable fun-loving evening! I need to post the photos next week because It is not allowing to put anymore.

Congratulations
 to our beloved Doreen
Doreen Ketchens is an institution in New Orleans, where the jazz musician performs at the intersection of Royal Street and St. Peter, affectionately known as "Doreen's Corner." When "Sunday Morning" senior contributor Ted Koppel interviewed Ketchens in 2022, she stated her dream was to play the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This month she got her wish, and "Sunday Morning" was there.
