A Toast to New Orleans and YOU. Week of January 24-31 Cancer Crusaders Celebration of Life Luncheon / FOUNDERS BALL
Good morning my darling family and friends. A cold Monday January 24 awaits us. Let's welcome it with gratefulness in our heart. We are blessed by being alive and healthy! “Each morning when I open my eyes, I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.“ – Groucho Marx
This past week, we experienced frigid weather but that did not stop some of us from enjoying life and the fabulous soirees that our beloved New Orleans had to offers.
OMG! Last night the Mahalia Jackson Theatre was steaming hot! The presentation by the New Orleans Ballet of the Argentinian group Tango Fire was superb and much needed in a frigid Saturday. I loved seeing so many longtime friends at the Vip Reception during intermission. I am looking forward to the upcoming performances of Ballet Hispanico on Saturday, March 12 and the American Ballet theatre on Saturday May 14 and Sunday May 15. Cannot wait !

The Round Table Luncheon series is celebrating its 15th year. Since it began in August 2005, the monthly Round Table has been attracting a distinguished guest list of influential movers and shakers. Modeled after Dorothy Parker’s famed gatherings at the old Algonquin Hotel in New York, each monthly luncheon focuses on a current topic of local interest, focusing on the arts, cultural activities and philanthropic initiatives that set our community apart and enhance our quality of life

CO-CHAIRMEN CHRISTIAN T. BROWN, WILLIAM H. HINES, J. STOREY CHARBONNET, AND R. HUNTER PIERSON, JR.
Please join us for a magical royal evening of merriment and celebration as we toast 150 years of the oldest, continuous Carnival parading organization in New Orleans. Rex created the template for Mardi Gras as we know it today and has become a major philanthropic supporter of the city's schools through its Pro Bono Publico Foundation.
Be the first to see the exhibition that tells the story of 150 years of Carnival leadership. Rex: The 150th Anniversary of the School of Design will showcase rare Rex regalia, costumes, jewelry, photographs and documents. Many items have not been publicly seen in over 100 years, and include new finds from as far away as Europe.
Capacity inside the Presbytère is limited to 500, so do not delay in reserving your place at this once in a life time celebration and exhibition unveiling. This event requires black tie, formal attire.

It is 2022 Carnival Time and as such the annual Round Table Luncheon Saluting Carnival on February 16 at noon at Briquette's will be an incredibly special one. I have invited my talented roommate Rick Tringali, founder of Jazz Crawl to be my co-host. The Roundtable Luncheon will be crowning a “Royal Court” for this year’s Carnival season! Anticipation will build as the King, Queen, Dukes, and Maids are selected and crowned through a random drawing. We will have speakers to share insight and appreciation for the unique monarch tradition of Mardi Gras Krewes and Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs. With support from sponsors, we hope to commission a local artist to create the crowns and a brass band to lead a mini-second line with the royals.
More details on how to enter the royal drawing or how to become a sponsor coming soon!
