A Toast to New Orleans and YOU! Week of October 25-31. French Quarter Citizen's Halloween Fundraiser & Happy Halloween!
Good morning my darling family and friends. "May this Monday, October 25 be the beginning of a week of peace and find joy in every day ahead." “Life offers you so many doors, it is up to you which to open and which one to close.” As Groucho Marx said: “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.“– Wishing all of you a happy Saints Game! Monday. Geaux Saints!
The much-anticipated Round Table Luncheon Saluting The Cultural Arts and Halloween was a great success. I am grateful to the speakers, the entertainers and the delicious food that was served at Tujaque's

Darlings, Bryan Batt in Dear Mr. Williams’s final performance at Le Petit Theatre Du View Carre was mesmerizing. I loved it and I hope the show will go on to Broadway because Bryan Batt’s performance is extraordinary.

CONTEMPORARY ARTS CENTER TO HOST PROSPECT.5: Yesterday we said tomorrow INTERNATIONAL ART TRIENNIAL Works by 17 intergenerational artists, including Laura Aguilar, Felipe Baeza, Kevin Beasley, Karon Davis, Kiki Smith, and Carlos Villa, with major new works by Mark Bradford, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, and Cosmo Whyte, featured across CAC galleries, on view until January 23, 2022 |
The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (CAC) announces Prospect.5: Yesterday we said tomorrow, the fifth iteration of Prospect New Orleans, New Orleans’ city-wide contemporary art triennial. As a partner venue, the CAC is honored to present works by leading contemporary artists including Sky Hopinka, Phoebe Boswell, Mark Bradford, Laura Aguilar, Kiki Smith, Kevin Beasley, Keni Anwar, Karon Davis, Jamal Cyrus, Huong Ngo, Felipe Baeza, Eric-Paul Riege, ektor garcia, Dave McKenzie, Cosmo Whyte, Carlos Villa, and Beatriz Santiago Muñoz. The CAC and Prospect New Orleans will kick off Prospect.5: Yesterday we said tomorrow with an opening night party on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 7 pm to midnight, featuring music by Innerversions (formerly DJ Chinua) and DJ Legatron Prime with local food trucks, libations, and more. Admission is free with an RSVP. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of attending the CAC is required for admission. Mask-wearing is required at all times when not actively eating or drinking. Curated by Artistic Directors Naima J. Keith and Diana Nawi, Prospect.5: Yesterday we said tomorrow features more than fifty artists in over fifteen venues throughout New Orleans and will include newly commissioned works alongside the work of historically significant artists. P.5 will investigate how history informs the present — particularly in relation to New Orleans, a uniquely American city that embodies so many urgent issues of today, but which remains deeply invested in and subject to its recent and historical past. Taking the city as a mandate, this exhibition will examine history as both document and fiction, exploring the idea that our moment feels both unprecedented and familiar. “As a partner with Prospect, the CAC serves as a touchstone for contemporary art in New Orleans, with work that speaks to power and is responsive to this place. This triennial is a mile-marker and catalyst for advancing artists and contemporary art for society and our city,” said George Scheer, Executive Director of the CAC. To deepen the impact of Prospect.5, the CAC will present a series of public programs and workshops throughout the run of the exhibition, including a young artists gathering and panel discussions featuring P.5 artists. |
