A Toast to New Orleans and YOU: Week of June 14- 21- Happy Father's Day
Good morning my darling friends. It is Monday, June 14! I am alive, breathing, living, healthy, blessed and loving it. God is good!
Each Monday is the start of a new week and so should be classed as a fresh start. Start your week off right by making the most of your time on Monday and use your energy to do great things to start your week off with a bang. Attack Monday with enthusiasm, laughter, thousands of smiles, and cheerfulness. Keep a smile on your face and face the day with big positive energy. You’ll find that your positive energy will bounce back off other people, which will result in you and everyone around you having a great day.
Darlings, it is feels so good to be able to socialize and be with friends as evidenced this past week!
I started my social week on Tuesday, June 8, when the 2021 New Orleans Wine and Food experience hosted VIP Receptions and sold-out dinners for this year 's honorees.
Darlings, I will be lying to you if I didn't tell you that the highlight of my busy week was my sold-out Salute to Women Round Table Luncheon at Briquette.
As our great and wonderful city of New Orleans and the rest of the world return to normalcy, Margarita Bergen, Hostess of the Round Table Luncheon, I joined forces to co-host along with Liz Glaser Broekman, Director of Fidelity Bank’s P.O.W.E.R Program to honor 11 women who have displayed leadership and endurance and have persevered during this past year- and-a-half of the COVID 19 quarantine.
The Honorees were:
Jennifer Avegno, M.D., Director of the New Orleans Department of Health
· Ana Maria Bech, Publisher/Director Viva Nola
· Deb Elam, President and CEO, Corporate Playbook™
· Cherice Harrison-Nelson, Queen of the Guardians of the Flame
· Tamara Jackson, Executive Director of Silence is Violence
· Natalie Jayroe, President and CEO of the Second Harvest Food Bank
· Jennifer Kelley Killian, Executive Director of the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation
· Suzaune Yee McKamey, Chanteuse and Entertainer
· Anne Delery McWhorter, owner of Quiet Calm, LLC. that works in autism and domestic violence.
Anita Matamoros Oubre- Member of the Baby Dolls, writer, and lover of life
· Tammy O’Shea, Chief Marketing Officer at Fidelity Bank
Entertainment was by talented cabaret singer, honoree Suzaune Yee McKamey, accompanied on the piano by Jim Walpole.
I loved attending on Friday, the lovely performance at the Italian American Cultural Center’s Piazza d’Italia. Pictured are the talented Timothy Todd Simmons, Kathleen Halm Simmons, Valencia Pleasant, Enrico Cannella, and yours truly. In spite of the heat and humidity we had a good time.
Opera Night at the Gallery at 2604 Magazine Street was outstanding.
