A Toast to New Orleans & YOU! Martin Luther King, Jr. Day,. It's Mardi Gras Time Round Table Luncheon Web. Feb 10, at ANDREA'S
Good morning my darling friends. Monday, January 18, 2021, will be remembered as the day that once again our chance of the Saints playing at the Superbowl has dashed away. It was a playoff heartbreaker game. Our beloved Saints lost to the Tampa 30-20.
Today, we also need to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and reflect on the work that still needs to be done for racial equality.
Let's be grateful that we are alive, healthy, and safe. Let's pray for the sick and those that have left us. May their soul RIP.
Wishing all of you a lovely, blessed day! Sending a visual hug.
Darlings, It is Mardi Gras Time!
As a 2021 royalty, I command your presence at my masked 15th Salute to Carnival Round Table Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb 10 at noon at Andrea's Restaurant in Metairie. I promise, as, in the past, it will be a fun-filled memorable event with live music with a stellar line-up of performers that includes Pianist Jim, Walpole, entertainers Al "Carnival" Johnson, Marshall Harris, Carl Mack, Suzaune Yee Mckemey, Vatican Luckey, and Edward Cox; delicious cuisine, and unlimited champagne. Since this luncheon is not going to benefit anyone, I am lowering the price to only $55. I encourage all to don your beautiful mask and carnival outfit for our judges. On MLK Day, as our nation honors the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., there are lessons we can learn from the civil rights leader and apply to our lives in the present.
Dr. King once said that “life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘what are you doing for others?’” Here’s how you can gain from his wisdom in 2021 and put his words into action this MLK day.
Volunteer your time and talents
“Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.”
Spread joy
“Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”
Contact your representatives
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
Expand your mind
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
Be kind to yourself
“Be a bush if you can't be a tree. If you can't be a highway, just be a trail. If you can't be a sun, be a star. For it isn't by size that you win or fail. Be the best of whatever you are.”
Have hope for tomorrow
“Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.”
