Darlings,
Before, I start sharing all the fun events that I attended and the upcoming events, I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of former Governor Kathleen Blanco who lost her long fight against cancer:
Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco will lie in state on Thursday, August 22, in the State Capitol Rotunda as part of a three-day Celebration of Life
I am in state of shock and disbelief about the tragic death of my longtime friend, award-winning WVUE anchor, Nancy Parker. The veteran journalist and mother of three was killed along with pilot Franklin Augustus shortly after takeoff from Lakefront Airport.
Her husband, Glynn Boyd, said the memorial service will be held at Xavier University’s Convocation Center Friday, Aug. 23. The doors will open at 9 a.m. He followed the announcement with a heartfelt message to Nancy, calling her “an amazing person,” and he misses her “like crazy.” Boyd also thanked everyone for their support, writing “We feel the love and the power of prayer.”
When you get to be my age, you resign yourself to being notified about some of your peers passing away. Last week I attended a lovely Celebration of Life for my darling longtime friend, William Oliver at the Audubon Tea Room.
Tonight there was a lovely Celebration of Life for my longtime friend William Oliver. It was hosted by Ochsner .
Almost the next day, I attended the funeral service for another longtime darling friend, Hector Maldonado. Hector was one of the pillars of the Hispanic community and be sadly missed by all of us who loved and admired him.
My deepest condolences to his beloved wife Dr. Blanca Rosa Maldonado and the Maldonado Family.
Darlings, the minute that I returned from Nashville, Tennessee, I immersed myself in attending fun-loving and delicious fundraisers.
On Wednesday, August 14, I enjoyed so much attending the SOLD-OUT, delicious 8th annual Gold Medal Chefs Gala & Hospitality Awards at the Convention Center. The awesome Gala celebrated Louisiana's hospitality industry and recognized those in our community who make a significant impact on the industry.
The well-deserved honorees of the 2019 Hospy Awards were:
President’s Outstanding Volunteer Award, Reed Ingram, Bev Inc.
Drago Cvitanovich Award for Philanthropy by an Entrepreneur Al Copeland Jr., Al Copeland Investments
Bryan Klotz Award for Philanthropy by a Supplier, Cliff Hall, New Orleans Fish House

2019 Heavenly Host of Stars Gala (33 photos)
On August 18, the Grammy-nominated and legendary Hall of Fame group, The Whispers, took stage at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans in a benefit performance for the Sisters of the Holy Family. The “Heavenly Host of Stars Gala” is a major fundraising event for the Sisters of the Holy Family to benefit the support of their long-standing ministries and the retirement program of the elderly Sisters.
The patron party began at 5:30 p.m. and the gala at 7:00 p.m. Serving as honorary gala co-chairs were Frank and Paulette Stewart. Tracie Boutte served as the Chair of the lovely event.
My darling longtime friends Norman Robinson served as the MC and Mark Romig served as Celebrity Auctioneer.
The evening’s culinary delights was generously donated and prepared by Chef Yvan Didelot of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel.
