: A Toast to New Orleans July 3-8 : 4th of July Celebrations/ Essence Festival and more

I am wishing you all a very Happy 4th of July 2018!
I just returned from having a very brief, spirited and fun weekend in Sandestin, Florida. I am afraid that i need a vacation after my fun-filled holiday!
Here are some of the highlights of my visit:
Night Life of Sandestin and Miramar Beach
Darlings, discovering the night life of Sandestin and Miramar Beach with the help of my talented hostesses, Insurance Agent Vicky Kerlagon and Realtor Teri McCall was so much fun, and then, to top it off, at Graffiti, running into my darling New Orleans friend, RK Hoddinott, who spends the summer at his home in Sandestin, was a hoot.

Discovering scenic Hwy 30A, Florida
It feels so good to be back in my beloved New Orleans after a very brief but spirited and fun sojourn to my favorite nearby holiday getaway destination, the Emerald Coast. I really enjoyed touring Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort with Vicky and Teri. They introduced me to a lot of their friends and showed me all the different communities along Sandestin and the Scenic Highway 30-A, a beach road in South Walton that stretches along the Emerald Coast, famous for its azure waters and white sand beaches.
I enjoyed discovering, along Highway 30-A, picturesque Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Alys Beach, Seaside, and an exquisite, under- development, Kaiya Beach Resort. While there I loved meeting Lisa Burwell, the publisher of the beautiful VIE, a national luxury lifestyle magazine that fuses fashion, travel, philanthropy, health and art. VIE has inspired readers with elegance and grace since 2008.

RTA's GoMobile Conference & Ride

Darlings, please put in your calendar that the annual Round Table Luncheon Saluting Tales of the Cocktail will be on Wednesday, July 18 at noon at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel.
The spirited Luncheon will be co-hosted by Caroline Rosen, the new executive director of Tales of the Cocktail, the nonprofit that produces the annual spirit industry conference which will be held this year on July 17-22

So far I have invited as guest speakers author Tom Fitzmorris and Ian McNulty, Food columnist for the Advocate. The live entertainment will be talented vocalist Jordan Kelley accompanied on the piano by Jim Walpole.

Darlings, if you know me, you know that I couldn't stay away too long from my beloved New Orleans. I was disappointed that I did not make it back in time to attend the annual fun-filled Trinity Episcopal Church's patriotic 4th of July Celebration on Sunday.

On July 3 the annual Independence Day at Uncle Sam Jam will take place in Lafreniere Park with food and craft booths and live music featuring Amanda Shaw, The Eli Young Band and The Top Cats, with fireworks in between at 9 pm. Here is the lineup:

Personally, I am looking forward to attending the annual 3rd of July at City Park where we will enjoy patriotic music with the Marine Corps Band New Orleans and fireworks from the Peristyle.
This is a free event. The annual Happy 3rd of July event promises to be a spectacular show. Join in for the party dressed in your red, white and blue best! Bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy patriotic music from The Marine Corps Band on the Goldring/Woldenberg Great Lawn and fireworks from the top of the Peristyle. Arrive early for patriotic giveaways and a great spot on the lawn. The Marine Band will play patriotic music including the “1812 Overture,” “America the Beautiful” and other favorites. Here is their schedule:

Maafa is a Kiswahili word that means “great tragedy” or “horrific
tragedy,” referring to the period called the Middle Passage or
Transatlantic Slave Trade.
ESSENCE Festival
July 5-8
ESSENCE Fest takes place after the Fourth this year from July 5-8, and on Friday, the nighttime concerts kick off with a lineup of superstars including Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu andMiguel. Keep your other nights this weekend clear as well, with artists Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah taking the stage Saturday night and Janet Jackson and Fantasia closing out the festival Sunday night.
