Darlings,
Another fabulously socially hectic week has gone by.
I had 2 or 3 events on Friday and Saturday and enjoyed very much all the events that I attended.
On Friday, despite the inclement weather, the WYES Dinner Tribute to Chef Prudhomme at Southern Food & Beverage Museum was superb.
WYES paid homage to one of Ahttps://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153442844260870.1073742669.581200869&type=1&l=8b8aa38ceb
I didn't stay for the fabulous dinner because I needed to go to “Juleps in June.” The Faulkner Society’s annual overture to the summer social season was superb. The fundraiser took place at the stunning, recently renovated Garden District residence and gardens at 1216 Jackson Avenue, home of Honorary Co-Chairs Andrea and David Bland.
Literary Guests of Honor included Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville, Xavier University Professor and author of the nonfiction book, The Baby Dolls: Breaking the Race and Gender Barriers of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Tradition, which focuses on how black women have gained important roles in the parading traditions of New Orleans street culture. Also honored was New Orleans native John Gregory Brown, one of the country’s finest literary fiction storytellers, whose new novel, A Thousand Miles From Nowhere, is regarded as the best fictional depiction of love, loss, and displacement in the wake of Hurricane Katrina the festival organizers have read. Joining him as an honoree was his wife, Carrie Brown, author of seven critically acclaimed novels including her new novel, The Stargazer’s Sister.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153442885735870.1073742670.581200869&type=1&l=e3bb7da120
On Saturday the annual 2016 Summer Wine Fest benefiting the French American Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast at the Shops at Canal Place was lovely and delicious. The entertainment was by talented Tim Laughlin Trio and a Strolling Jazz Trio.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153444636780870.1073742671.581200869&type=1&l=4f73cece98
The Heart & Soul Gala that benefits American Heart Association at Generations Hall was delightful and delicious. This event raised funds to help create education outreach programs to benefit the New Orleans community. The American Heart Association, the oldest and largest voluntary health organization in the nation, works to fight cardiovascular diseases and defects, the No. 1 killer in Louisiana.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153444660775870.1073742672.581200869&type=1&l=e19c7b85e5

Tomatoes, especially the succulent Creoles, are essential ingredients in many of the most popular dishes served by New Orleans' top restaurants. Chefs love them for their versatility, and diners love them for their unique flavor.

Centered around the French Market, which dates back to 1791 and is the nation's oldest city marketplace, the event features:
- A Second Line through the festival grounds to kick off Saturday’s events

- Live music
- Cooking demonstrations
