I hope you honored your fathers and your grandfathers this past weekend.
I sure remembered my wonderful and loving father who joined the Lord when my brother and I were still young. We always miss him and may his soul RIP. I was born when he was 61 and my brother Lorenzo was born five years later.
The highlight of my week was my monthly Round Table Luncheon that was held this past Wednesday, at noon at Dickie's Brennan Bourbon House.
The June Round Table Luncheon co-hosted by FestiGals was superb. The featured guests speakers made it to be a very special one. They included Tina Meilleur, a Life and Business Coach and CEO and Founder of Design Your Success; Grégor Trumel, Consul Général de France en Louisiane; Dr. Lisa Donofrio of Etre Cosmetic Dermatology; and special guest Councilwoman Latoya Cantrell. Talented Carl Mack and Jim Walpole entertained guests with a medley of songs paying tribute to gals. I was so disappointed that about 20 people who reserved seats didn't show up. I did not have a policy that states that if you reserve you need to pay whether you showed up or not. It is common courtesy to notify me so I can notify the chef. So, unless I institute a policy that requires payment when the reservation is made, I will not be able to continue doing the Round Table Luncheon since IT PUT A BIG STRAIN ON THE RESTAURANT AND ME.
I took it easy after my luncheon since I was depressed and I had a pain in my back and only stepped out to work and see the Gay Pride Parade that passed in front of Casell-Bergen Gallery. The New Orleans Gay Pride Parade was solemn and fun to watch. Saw many familiar faces including members of the City Council and different krewes and organizations. The next luncheon co-hosted by Tales of the Cocktail will be on Wednesday, July 20 and it will feature an international stellar panel of Gin and Rum makers with talented Claudia Baumgartenchanneling Dorothy Parker and her witty drinking quotes. It should not be missed but unless I work closely with Bourbon House on our head counts, I will be looking for a new venue.
Talking about rum, The Historic New Orleans Collection will be presenting “Rum, Rhum, Ron! A History of Rum in the New World,” a culinary symposium Friday, June 24–Saturday, June 25. The symposium will take place at The Historic New Orleans Collection’s Williams Research Center, 410 Chartres Street. Registrants are invited to a happy hour on Friday, June 24, from 5–7 p.m. at Palace Café’s rum-focused Black Duck Bar, 605 Canal St., and to a rum tasting following Saturday’s sessions at the at the Hotel Monteleone, 214 Royal St., from 4–6 p.m. I cannot wait!
I am going to start my social week today, when I will join talented Peru-born Walter Veras to film a segment for his weekly Cox-TV show "El Mirador at t Mizado Cocina that is celebrating Ceviche Festival all month long even though National Ceviche Day is June 28, but they do not think one day is enough! June 6-June 30.

The benefit for the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, will be feature renowned New Orleans chefs, silent auction and live auction and will be hosted by our Mistress of Ceremonies, professional journalist & entrepreneur, Camille Whitworth at the Blaine Kern Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel from 2-6 p.m.
I am also looking forward to attending, on Sunday, June 26: 16th Annual Patriotic Music Festival from 3-6 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave. New Orleans. The program starts at 3 p.m. with the U.S Marine Corps Concert Band, Ellis Marsalis and Delfeayo's Uptown Jazz Orchestra and more. The musical program, ending at 6 p.m., will be followed by a reception in Bishop Polk Hall, ALL are invited!

Diogo de Lima
Diogo de Lima received training in music, theater and dance at Conservatório Maestro Julião in Sao Paulo, Brazil and also attended the Royal Academy of Dance of London and the Toshie Kobayashi Academy of Dance. He has received many awards for his dancing and choreography, both in Brazil and internationally. He was most recently nominated in 2003 for the prestigious Rolex Mentor and Protege Arts Initiative. He began dancing professionally in 1996 and has appeared as a guest artist with several dance companies in Brazil. Among others, Mr. de Lima has worked with choreographers Ana Bottosso, Ivonice Satie, Eduard Bonnis and Ilara Lopes. In 1999 he joined Grupo Corpo Brazilian Dance Theater and performed with that company until 2006 under choreographer Rodrigo Pederneiras. He has performed in theaters and dance festivals all over the world.
Carlos Miguel Guerra
Carlos Guerra is a native of Cuba, where he began his training at age 10 at the Professional School of Ballet and Plastic Arts in Camaguey, Cuba. In 1996, he joined the Professional Ballet Company of Camaguey as a principal dancer, and performed such works as Swan Lake, Giselle, Carmen, Romeo and Juliet, and Coppelia, among others. He was invited to dance as a soloist for the Ballet Company of Santiago in Chile in 1998, and was a principal dancer there for the following two years. Mr. Guerra was awarded first prize in the Provincial Contest at the School of Ballet in Camaguey in 1995. He also received Honorable Mention in 1996 at the International Ballet Competition in Havana. He is a principal dancer with Miami City Ballet, along with his wife, Jennifer Kronenberg.
