Darlings,
WOW! Another fabulous week as only New Orleans could have produced it!
I started my week by going briefly to the Wednesday at Lafayette Square to see talented pianist/vocalist Marcia Ball, followed by attending the wonderful free performance of Bon Operatit! at the Four Points by Sheraton French QuarterA BIRTHDAY LUNCHEON FOR ONE OF MY FAVORITE HUMANS
On Friday, I stopped briefly by the Helen Brett Jewelry Show at the Convention Center because the Helen Brett Enterprises awarded Beverly Daigle, a New Orleans hair stylist who has studied under the world-renowned John Jay for more than 30 years, with the 2016 Beauty Pavilion Pinnacle Award for excellence in the beauty industry. The award ceremony and the Beauty Pavilion were held in conjunction with the International Jewelry and Merchandise Show. Jennifer Hale, national TV sports analyst, emceed the special award ceremony at New Orleans Morial Convention Center.

I had a lovely time at the 21st Annual Women of Substance Luncheon at the Audubon Tea Room. Bridge House/Grace House honored Tiffany Adler of Adler’s; Lauren LeBlanc of Fleurty Girl; and Erika Olinger of Cole Pratt Gallery, during its 21st annual Women of Substance Luncheon at the Audubon Tea Room. The luncheon also presented the Richard “Buzzy” Gaiennie Award to Ronnie Briggs, the Volunteer of the Year Award to Barbara Gaiennie and the Alumna of the Year Award toSandi Newman. Congratulations to the Honorees!

On Saturday, I attended one of the best dinners ever!
I joined a historic dining experience inspired by George Rodrigue’s Aioli Dinner. The Aioli Dinner Supper Club, is a series of special dinners and/or lunches around Louisiana to benefit the programs of the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts, which is a non-profit organization founded by George Rodrigue in 2009 that is dedicated to youth development through the arts in education.
Mother Nature provided glorious Spring weather to enjoy the outdoor five-course dining experience wine pairing inspired by the “creole gourmet societies” between 1870 – 1920. The dinner was held at the lovely home of Lori & Bobby Savoie on Audubon Blvd. Cuisine was by Chef Peter Sclafani, Ruffino’s. Wines provided by Moet Hennessy.
I was delighted to see so many of my old-time darling friends, including Wendy Rodrigue and Chef Jeremy Langlois, former chef at Houmas House who is now with the Ruffino Catering. Funds generated from sales will directly benefit Louisiana A+ Schools, whole school program with a mission of nurturing creativity in every learner through an arts-integrated school network. I think last night's meal was one of the best ever! It made it to be a very memorable

I concluded my week by attending a delicious Paella presented by Sociedad Espanola at the lovely home of Juanita Pradel on Pitt Street. It was a lot of fun!
Darlings, On Sunday, my darling friend Dean Shapiro- a frequent writer for the New Orleans Advocate invited me to join him at the New Orleans premiere of the children's opera, "Brundibar" which was being presented by the New Orleans Opera Association and The U.S. Freedom Pavilion at the National World War II Museum.
In the audience for all three shows -was 85 year old Ela Weissberger, a survivor from Terezin who was in the original cast and is now its last surviving member.
Well ,unfortunetely I did not go since my body was exhausted but to my delight, I had the very pleasant surprise of meeting Ela Weissberger at my gallery with her daughter brought in by Dean Shapiro. God is Great and I am blessed

They will be discussing their respective books and answering questions.

I have been invited to attend on Friday, May 20, from 7-11 p.m. HAVANA WHITES at International House Hotel. I will be rushing out to attend Le Petit Theater’s production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forumdirected by talented Ricky Graham.
Broadway’s greatest musical farce, and winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical! A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the 2,000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. A joyous romp through Rome, this performance is full of desperate lovers, scheming neighbors, and secrets behind every toga!
The production, which closes out Le Petit’s current season, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons.
On Saturday, May 21, I am planning to attend: Art & Soul: Home is Where the ART is to benefit the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts Institute (NOCCA).
This annual gala will feature fabulous performances by NOCCA alumni including Roxie le Rouge, Sweet Crude and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Some of New Orleans’ favorite restaurants will provide the food, the gala will feature an art-filled silent auction and there’s even a “Twilighter Ticket” for late-night revelers. The NOCCA Institute’s mission is to invest in young artists in order to build educational, economic and cultural vitality.
Before I share the calendar, I need to mention the passing of my darling friend David Michael Tringali. I was saddened to learn in yesterday's New Orleans Advocate of his passing. I have fabulous memories of him working at the Bombay Club and being the Captain of the Krewe of Celestial Night. I will miss him as well as a friend in Facebook. May he RIP!

Carrie Brown, Novelist John Gregory BrownLiterary Guests of HonorEach year, the Faulkner Society selects as its guests of
honor, authors we believe have enormous talent. We are proud to present 2016’s guests of honor: Novelists Carrie Brown and John Gregory Brown and non-fiction author Kim Vaz-Deville. Carrie Brown has published seven critically acclaimed, character driven books of historical fiction including her 2016 novel, The Stargazer’s Sister. Her husband, John Gregory Brown, a native of New Orleans is a writer we have admired since his debut novel, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery. His new novel is A Thousand Miles from Nowehere, arguably the best post-Katrina novel of loss, longing, and redemption. Both are set largely in New Orleans, as are his other works. The Browns winners of numerous honors for their respective novels, teach at Sweetbriar. Ms. Vaz-Deville’s book is a super additon to the researchresources about Carnival in New Orleans and it zeroes in on the role of women in the parading traditions of the city’s street culture. Her book, The “Baby Dolls”: Breaking the Race and Gender Barriers of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Tradition, is the focus book for One Book, one New Orleans, 2016. Dr. Vaz-Deville is a professor at Xavier University. For details about these authors and their work, visit:
