I hope you have been staying cool and enjoyed some of the fun activities that our beloved New Orleans had to offer.
I had a very entertaining and fun week that started on Tuesday, when I attended the Press Conference and Announcement for the 2018 FestiGals at the Jung Hotel.

FestiGals inspires, connects and celebrates women in a city known for its celebrations -- New Orleans. Membership is not required.
The 2018 FestiGals Women's Weekend Experience will bring women of all ages and backgrounds together for an enjoyable experience that will feature authentic New Orleans activities, designed for women, by women.
The National WWII 2018 American Spirit Award
It was such a thrill to attend and cover the 2018 American Spirit Awards Gala. The highlight was the presentation of the American Spirit Awards at the elegant black-tie gala in the Museum’s US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center. The delicious dinner was prepared by Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group.
The American Spirit awards were presented to Maurice R., "Hank" Greenberg who was represented by his friend, Gary Sinise and Senator John McClain who was represented by his daughter. The 2018 American Spirit Medallion was presented to Susan Hess, Archie Manning and Adair Margo.
The 2018 Silver Service Medallion was presented to Bernice "Bee" Falk Haydu, General Charles C. Krulak USMC (Ret.) and Lieutenant General Victor "Brute" Krulak, USMC (Ret.)

Ogden Museum of Southern Art's Magnolia Ball
The annual Ogden Museum of Southern Art's Magnolia Ball was, as in the past, fabulous!
I joined chairmen David T. Baker, Andrew Freeman, Chad Graci, Jessie Schott Haynes and Emily Shaya at the 2018 Magnolia Ball, celebrating “The Whole Drum Will Sound: Women in Southern Abstraction.” I saw some of my many friends and met the young generation of talented artists who are showing at the Museum.
Magnolia Ball has become one of the most anticipated social events of the summer. Walking Through New Orleans
I enjoyed so much seeing some many of my talented friends performing at “Walking Through New Orleans” at the Westwego Performing Art Theater.
The performance was presented by Jefferson Performing Art Society's Leading Ladies Guild and produced by Valerie Hart.

Maestro Robert Lyall 's 20th Anniversary Party
The dinner hosted by New Orleans Opera Association honoring Maestro Robert Lyall on his 20th anniversary with New Orleans Opera at The Windsor Court was just lovely and delicious. We were entertained by talented tenor Casey Candebat, a native of New Orleans, who made his professional operatic debut in 2007 with New Orleans Opera, in their production of La Bohème, with Maestro Lyall as conductor. I am looking forward to this week when among the highlights of my week will be hosting my annual Round Table Saluting FestiGals on Wednesday, June 13 at noon in the historic Ballroom of the Bourbon Orleans.

The luncheon will be co-hosted by the founder of the FestiGals Weekend, Diane Lyons, and Sandra Dartus, Partnerships Liaison. They will speak about the upcoming 2018 FestiGals Women's Weekend Experience that will take place in New Orleans from June 21-24. Invited guests include the 2018 Grand Diva of FestiGals, Stephanie Burks, as well as Mayor LaToya Cantrell; Honorable Councilmembers Helena Moreno, Cyndi Nguyen and Kristin Gisleson Palmer.
Tracee Dundas, founder of Fashion Week, will coordinate a small fashion show from Prima Donna Uptown. The other invited guest speakers will be Honorable Consul General of France to New Orleans, Vincent Sciama, to speak about the 2018 Bastille Day Celebrations, and Frank Stansbury, publisher of La Fete News, who will speak about the upcoming Summer Wine Festival, “Fete Du Vin,” hosted by and benefiting the French-American Chamber of Commerce Gulf Coast (June 23 at the Shops at Canal Place).
Live entertainment will be by Dr. Maxim Samarov, Co-Founder/Music Director of the New Orleans Chamber Orchestra; and vocalist/comedian Becky Allen, to be accompanied on the piano by talented Jim Walpole.
The other highlight of my week is to attend a Tricentennial Cultural Reception in honor of their Majesties King and Queen of Spain on Saturday, May 16 at New Orleans Museum of Art.
Spain's King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will travel this month to the United States, where they are scheduled to visit New Orleans, Texas and the White House .
Their stop in New Orleans will include a welcoming ceremony at Gallier Hall on Friday, June 15, at 11:35 a.m. Later in the day, the royal couple will visit the Cabildo and St. Louis Cathedral, according to Mayor LaToya Cantrell's office. On Saturday, the king and queen will go to the New Orleans Museum of Art at 11 a.m. for cultural performances.
Of course, i can not wait!

Piano music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk and Friends featuring piano music by four 19th-century, New Orleans-born composers Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Basile Barès, Emil Richard, and Edouard Déjan A piano recital featuring Peter Collins, a New Orleans-based pianist and professor emeritus at Missouri State University, where he taught and served as coordinator of the keyboard area for 25 years. An award winner in several national and international piano competitions, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and his doctorate from the University of Michigan. 6-7:30 pm at THNOC's Williams Research Center, 410 Chartres Street in the French Quarter. The Mexican Cultural Institute in New Orleans is pleased to present the decorated Mexican group's program of 20th century through contemporary Mexican guitar music performing on a set of eight hand-carved guitars that travel with their luthier. The Octet is joined by celebrated American Classical Guitarist, Nicholas Ciraldo, for Julio CΓ©sar Oliva’s “MΓ©xico de mis sueΓ±os.” Ciraldo won numerous international guitar competitions.
This Mexican guitar ensemble was established in 2010. The Octeto SicarΓΊ gets its name SicarΓΊ which is a Zapotec word meaning ‘beautiful’, and the ensemble adopts it in an spiritual sense. Leukemia & Lymphoma Society “The Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale Gala”
Man & Woman of the Year is philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of two local children who are blood cancer survivors.
The man and woman who have raised the most funds during the ten-week campaign are awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year in their community. The man and woman who have raised the most across the entire US will be recognized as the national Man and Woman of the Year.
This event is a celebration of all the candidates’ efforts as a collective class. Rock & Rouge Women's Music & Food Festival

The Rock & Rouge Women's Music & Food Festival will be held at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Old US Mint on Saturday, June 16th from 10 am until 10 pm.
We'll be showcasing some amazing female talent, focusing on women empowerment all around. Our "Women Who Rock" Stage will feature female-fronted bands, headlined by Irma Thomas, Soul Queen of New Orleans. Around the grounds, we will be serving delicious cuisine provided by local female chefs and food vendors. Under the big oak tree, we'll also create an elegant champagne experience with bubbly and caviar for those of age to drink.
For the younger generations, we have partnered with Electric Girls and Microsoft to create the Tomboy STEAM Tent for educational fun and enrichment. This tent will feature creative activities geared towards kids ages 8 to 14. Inside the Mint's third floor theatre, we will host several Women's Empowerment Panels, including: STEAM panel, Women in Politics panel, College panel, Music panel, Career panel, and Mardi Gras Indian & Krewe Queen panel.
